His bowling changes have been fairly **** overall tbh. Bowling innocuous spin in the first session and early in the Smith/Marsh partnership felt like a really poor move unless he genuinely had no other options. Given that there's four seamers, seems hard to believe unless there's something we don't know about fitness. And bowling Philander now when the new ball is coming up soon instead of one of the others.

To be fair though the pace attack has seemed fairly flat in general. Steyn obviously isn't at his best but Philander has been unimpressive as well. New ball did a bit but since then it really hasn't seemed like batting has been that difficult. Will be interesting to see how the pitch plays when Australia bowl. And I guess with the second new ball tonight.
It's been a low-intensity sort of day IMO. Australia since lunch just happy to coast and South Africa... lethargic is the best word that comes to mind right now.

Yeah. Which is just... a bit disappointing given that South Africa have a very good bowling attack, the pitch isn't a total road and Australia were in trouble several times in the first few hours. I'd have expected more of a killer instinct from the world's #1 team under those circumstances, in such a big series. Just felt like Smith was waiting for something to happen after the first four wickets came pretty easily.

Cook-esque.

Watching on English TV, Sky Sports, and I've seen like 50 ads for Captain Phillips today. I think it's the only ad they have.

Got plenty of betting adverts as well,oh and a satsuma singing about loans. I think civilisation is coming to an end.

Graeme Smith does this a lot. When the new ball is around 10-15 overs away, it's as though he shuts off completely and the team just goes through the motions to get to the new ball.

The other Smith, though WAG. Love it when Philander gets smacked
