let's just say that if he had his batting partner's application he'd probably average 10 more than he does.

Basically the same thing everyone has been asking his whole career. Sometimes doesn't seem to give a ****, sometimes edges behind early, not the best player of spin in the world, few other small issues but realistically there's no reason he shouldn't be a highly successful batsman.

He will be having more of such days. he's a very good bowler but no way is he keeping the average below 20 throughout his career a case of law of averages and all that.

Well no-one can doubt the quality of the SA pace attack but it's days like this when it's obvious to all how badly they lack a decent spinner. Marsh is a decent player but we all know he's not that good against spin...but when you're up against Peterson and Duminy you're not gonna have much to worry about.
This is nothing new though...SA seem to be getting in a habit of starting a series very poorly where bowling is concerned..done it against India...done it away to Pakistan...done it in Australia etc!!..they start off very average and then something clicks into gear in the next innings or next test. They've gotten away with it so many times and hung on to draw games!!..but will this Australian attack let them off the hook? we'll see.
