***Official*** Sri Lanka in Bangladesh 2014

What a double from Sanga. Has anyone ever made a triple and a ton in the same test btw? 15 overs to go now but I think SL will be spooked by BD's 1st innings and bat through to stumps.

Gooch against India. Sanga fell 32 short of Gooch's 456

Well I couldn't be happier for Chandimal, because he was desperate for runs, but fmd, it's a team game, and the last 80 runs have done nothing to help Sri Lanka win the game

Yep, that was an awful hour and half or so. After that debacle against Pakistan, Matthews' captaincy is looking a bit iffy.

Bangladesh should have been giving Matthews two every time until the 6th ball of the over, to keep Chandimal off strike.

Good to see Lanka still prioritise hundreds no one gives a **** about over winning . Pathetic.

And another 30 cents for Sri Lanka being 1-0 up, I remember they pulled **** like this against Pakistan back in 2012 as well

nice to see him get a score and hopefully get him back into form for the tour that matters, the England tour..

Chandimal's ton - something that will be remembered for years to come.
It's a shame that Sanga's 300 will be lost to the memory due to his sparkling 100, but tbf, the extra 15 overs or so probably wouldn't have made much of a difference, and yeah, he needed those runs bad

Bangladesh v Sri Lanka, 2nd Test, Chittagong, 5th day : After drawn Test, captains call each other defensive | Cricket News | Bangladesh v Sri Lanka | ESPN Cricinfo

"We didn't really declare late," Mathews said. "If they wanted to chase the 467, they could have, but they did not show any intent. They had 98 overs, and we actually could have bowled more than 98 overs, but they didn't show any intent. We were one-nil up in the series and they had to make a move. But we declared yesterday itself, rather than waiting for today. We were being positive and we were going all out for the win.

I think Mahmudullah's best role would be more or less the role Deonarine plays for the West Indies at home - batting six or seven and operating as the second spinner in a five man attack. That's obviously just not going to happen while playing for Bangladesh for several reasons - Shakib's existence and the fact that they really shouldn't be playing three seamers on most surfaces because all their seamers are terrible topping the list.

This is definitely the role he's got the most to give this team playing in, though. I think with Shakib there it kind of balances the team well in a way, that Bangladesh's fourth specialist bowler really needs to add something with the bat because Shakib will bowl most of their overs anyway. Robiul in for Razzak and I think they've pretty much got their balance right for home games. His bowling has always been a bit under-utilised for mine and if you look at how much he bowls and how low he bats when he's captain in domestic games, he clearly views himself as a Shakib-like player rather than the specialist batsman they always seemed to want him to become.
Yeah, weird because technically I think the guy's more sound than most of their batsman. He's certainly capable, and if it wasn't for his temperament, I would have thought he'd have a pretty fine top order bat for them. But yeah such a weird character. I would easily pick him over the usual ******** 3 pacers choice though. This is their best combination, IMO - they should stick with it.

And oh, congrats Mominul, has that grit to grind it out during tough times. I'd honestly never thought he'd be this good, just expected to be consistent with 50'ish scores, but bloody hell, hasn't he done well.

I like it how he acts as if he gave them a real sporting declaration by giving them only 467 to chase on the last day
Now now, don't be mean. It was the last day plus 8 overs. Which makes it a smidgen under 5 an over on a slow deck. Surely any reasonable side would consider that a realistic chase???
