***Official*** West Indies in New Zealand 2013/14

Literally every time I have to miss a days cricket for work or family, we get absolutely annihilated. This being the most ridiculous one yet. That was the thrashing of all thrashings. The moral of the story is that I need to watch every minute of every West Indies match if we are to be competitive!

I've only seen highlights but it very much looks like one of those occasions where everything Ryder and Anderson (seriously freakish display of consistent hitting) did just worked. They absolutely spanked some Word Class bowlers there. Narine hardly ever goes at 7 RPO in any conditions, let alone 13. From what I could see, they were hitting length balls out of the ground and even the few mis-hits were going to the boundary or landing safe. If you're a New Zealand fan or player it was just one of those dreamy days that come about once per decade if you're lucky. I hope our guys weren't too deflated by it. Yes they need to bowl better and get more yorkers in but they were outstanding in the previous match and they all have good/excellent records.

If it happens again I'll be concerned but I doubt it will tbh. I'm more worried with the batting. Those were perfect conditions for batting and Bravo was the only one who displayed any sort of power. I would loved to have seen Gayle, Pollard, Sammy or even Andre Russell play on that but instead we were treated to a very insipid effort. At full strength we have even more hitting power than this New Zealand side so that was particularly upsetting viewing.

Finally, I heard Bravo mention the cold weather in his post-match interview and blamed it for the poor performance. If I hear one more West Indies player using cold weather as an excuse for poor cricket I will do my nut. We always perform awfully when it drops below 20 degrees celsius and it's time they manned up and got on with it. I would love to do what they do, cold weather or not.

My first thought after NZ's batting effort was "I'm glad Gayle isn't playing". If Gayle had been playing I would have been concerned for the longevity of Anderson's world record.

Such a better analysis that Malcolm "lol small boundaries big bats bad bowling kids these days can't play real cricket" Jeh.

And kudos to tui for the catch 100k promotion. Genius.
I really enjoyed watching the spectacular and amusing failures. The bloke who dropped his own child before dropping the ball gets a special mention.

Ha! Yes the bats these days are superb but it takes incredible talent to hit top class bowlers consistently for six like that. It's one of the reasons I like Chris Gayle so much because to do that as consistently as he has in ODI and T20 cricket is astonishing.

I really don't understand their negativity, that Anderson innings was absolute gold.He hasn't been awful in Test matches either. At least let him fail first. Sometimes the old timers come across as incredibly negative and then they wonder why current players don't listen to them.

Absolutely, Tui have got some serious mileage out of this. Between the 'Yeah Right', the women at the brewery ads, the Super Rugby matches in Maungatinoka (sp) etc, their marketing team is worth every penny they're paid. And they charge you 25 nicker for those awful orange shirts as well, which would cost $5 a pop at the most to produce. If the $100k didn't go the other day, it never will

McCullum wins toss and is batting. Southee and Williamson in for Milne and Neesham.

WI playing Best and Edwards.

A very fast wicket last year, Nelson. I can remember Taylor wearing a few on the body and on the gloves from our leading 130kph men.
