He's run into Michael Clarke and David Warner, Virat Kohli and Che Pujara on non-turning tracks. Sorry if I'm not prepared to throw in the towel on him yet.
Well the real problem is he's bowled a long hop and a full toss per over, maybe more. I don't understand why that hasn't been punished in ODIs yet. Spread out field in the middle overs probably saving him

Yeah I quite agree with this actually. Clarke is more of a **** if I'm being honest. Never gives the opposition credit.
Eh? Clarke sometimes goes so far out of his way to give the oppo credit that it can actually come off as insincere.

I dunno about the 60+ average though. It's bloody, bloody hard to maintain an average above 55, let alone 60.

He needs to start out defensively and work his way into a rhythm rather than hoping to bowl wicket taking deliveries in his first over.

.
Talking about in his losses, not the wins. Just what I remember of him so might not be entirely correct. Ponting was quite good about giving the opposition credit at the end of the match.

The third day was always going to be the best time to bat; we lost the match on the second day.

I have to wonder why we even play at Wanderers and Kingsmead; we have bad records at both and the crowds are generally ****. Most likely franchises with some fingers in pies. If we played at Centurion and Newlands every tour we'd have much fewer home losses.

Don't you think you having bad records there have anything to do with the crowds being generally ****? :) To be honest, I love the Newlands. Definitely the best in SAF.

Whatever it takes!!!
It was you and me against the world at one point in 2011 Xuhaib

I hate being left out like this.. I need to dig up that old thread of mine where me and Ikki were gushing over Kohli batting in the Ranji Trophy and saving the game inspite of immense personal tragedy.

Haha yeah I know that thread. Its not about being in early which you were. Its about fighting against the doubters in 2011. Can't remember if you fought the clown Kohli pics, but we did. Ironically haven't seen that pic in a while

If he is generally this bad then he will end up with the 'most hated opposition player' tag that Ponting had for so long.. Amazing cricketer and all but **** him.
Say what you want about Ponting, but he made sure never to make any excuses like that (even if they were true). That's something I always admired about him - even times where I thought he had a legitimate right to complain or make an excuse for a performance in the post match conference, he never did.
Mumbai 2004 ffs.

Everytime you make this comment about Ponting I have to remind you about him at the presentation ceremony bitching about the pitch.

Oh ffs, I never once called him good after he actually entered test cricket, I liked the look of him in the 2011 WC but so did everyone else.

Is this becoming a thing? Jumping on the bandwagon after I'm ripping on a player for years and not acknowledging my genius but calling out every random half-pick I make? :p
Calm down buddy. Tahir and Sreesanth are two guys I can't stop associating with you :p

Symcox and Arun Lal in pre-match talk show is punishing, especially before a session I am so looking forward to.

To be fair, that was a pitch worth bitching about, wasn't it? Both sides were critical of it.

Generally though, he was very gracious

Did a bit of searching and adharcric was in before everyone else on Kohli and Pujara. Will concede the standing up for Kohli to you though. :p

Anyone else feel Steyn is going to bowl one of his crazy eye spells later? Would be so good to watch.

Were both sides critical? Anyway you don't do it on the ground during the presentation ceremony.

Agree though, Ponting was generally very gracious in defeat.

Not gonna happen. If he's in the same mindset as yesterday then no way. He just seemed more frustrated than the focused angry eyes he usually is

Dravid :
"It's probably one of the toughest wickets I've played a match on. It was interesting and it produced a great Test match. I'll admit it's not an ideal Test match, but it was a fantastic game of cricket, on what was definitely not an ideal Test wicket"

Maybe if he lost more matches we'd see his true colours :p
