To be honest I think children are probably a different category. Just more naturally flexible and less injury prone in general aren't they?I'm no physiological expert my man, but I would assume that the physical exertions of an elite fast bowler exceed that which a human body is used to coping with to a greater extent than your unfit bloke down the street. Sure the training they do and their natural attributes (flexibility, strength etc.) would help with susceptibility, but the strain produced by running that bit faster, striving for that bit more would be unnatural, I reckon. Is why you see so many more professionals getting injured compared to 12 year olds, especially at the start of a career. Dunno.
However it doesn't add up to me at all that a fit, athletic fast bowler with access to expert bowling coaching would be MORE likely to be injured than a fat, unathletic slob with a home-made bowling action who is equally trying to bowl as fast as he can?
