as awesome as southee is there's four other bowlers in this side and the last thing we need is an injury so it's fair to be cautious with him

that's silly. A couple of overs won't kill him. Was it a monster spell? They're one wicket away from bowling them out, and Southee had taken a wicket in his previous over. It's ludicrous.

8 over spell at the beginning of the day. He'd bowled a 9 over spell in Wellington.
Either way, it should've been Wagner instead of Sodhi.

I think we need runs from Rutherford here because I can see the middle order really stuttering with this scoreboard pressure.
Fair to say that it was a poor bowling effort after having them 5-90.
And I'll just repeat that when you're bowling to the tail you can afford to bowl 10, 12 over spells with your strike bowler because you know he won't need to bowl again in the day. What we're seeing is A team captaincy and I don't like it.
