Nah the jibes were knee-jerk reaction to some random Indian fans and media who go overboard and rated Kohli as a champion test player already. Anyone who mattered knew he was extremely talented and was the only one of the younger brigade to score away from home. Regarding his average, everyone knows he struggled in his first 3 tests and was then dropped so his "average" is skeweed poorly. His average is an irrelevant stat at such a young age and with so few tests under his belt really. And since when is 41 poor anyway?

Why did you ignore his Bangalore knock vs. NZ when he came in with India in massive strife at 3-67 and then 4-80?
Because I was holiday and didn't see a single ball of the match

:p

But seriously, I'm not trying to say he's had a poor career up to date, just that it's not as good as you'd think based on how he's perceived by some. And yeah, it is the random Indian fans and media I'm referring to. There are some who consider him not far off the Clarke/Amla/Sanga level.

Maybe the over the top praise is his fans just counter-balancing the heavy criticism he faced after the WI tour, and then Melbourne and Sydney imo, when people wanted him dropped. Revenge

I hate Ravi but he always gives Kallis the praise he deserves. One of his very few good qualities.

Rahane scoring runs more important than Rohit doing it tbh. He was all first class hype and showed us nothing in his first test (which he shouldn't be crucified for). So really all of the "future of India brigade" (i.e. 3-6 in the batting order) have showed something in test cricket now. Rahane obviously still only a 30 but this is vital runs right now.

I wasn't sure Rahane had the technique for test cricket in SA from what I had seen of him tbh, but it appears he is actually pretty solid, he's just waited for **** balls mainly, so I'm enjoying his temperament

My first proper look at him was his first ODI series in England in 2011, and he really impressed me then with his back foot technique. India's batsmen had been ruthlessly exposed on that tour but he really took on the fast bowlers quite successfully. I was particularly impressed given how rubbish his List A record was at the time (it's a fair bit better now I believe)

Survives the night and is dismissed tomorrow by Imran Tahir who bowls a good length delivery that turns a little and takes a thin edge through to the keeper

Steyn chickening out again.

Tgen again, Dhoni stroking an outswinger perfectly through the covers has got to be the most embarrassing thing imaginable imo

Not sure who is commentating but they are spot on. Philander is looking very Hilfenhaus. Some outswing coming really early out of his hand and pitching it too short.

Why is he doing this?
