If Dhoni edges to slip off a full outswinger I will kill something. You're allowed to get out any other way, MS, please not that

I see where he's coming form tbf. Kohli is clearly a really good batsman, and has high potential, but he'd definitely been overhyped in test cricket in terms of how people thought of him and his actual output. Mainly because he's such a good ODI player and is major eye candy with willow in hand, both of which are major pet hates for me when it comes to rating a test batsman.

Before today he was averaging in the low 40's, despite the fact he'd played most of his tests at home. Furthermore he'd never really done much at the start of a series bar his Chennai century (his Perth, Adelaide and Nagpur exploits were too little too late) and had played some really poor shots at crucial moments of the tests India lost, such as that infamous full toss as Mumbai.

He's someone who has always sort of been a lock in the side and viewed very highly based on talent, potential and the belief that he'll be a really good test batsman, rather than doing it through big test performances like someone such as Pujara has. I can see why that would gripe some people.
Nah the jibes were knee-jerk reaction to some random Indian fans and media who go overboard and rated Kohli as a champion test player already. Anyone who mattered knew he was extremely talented and was the only one of the younger brigade to score away from home. Regarding his average, everyone knows he struggled in his first 3 tests and was then dropped so his "average" is skeweed poorly. His average is an irrelevant stat at such a young age and with so few tests under his belt really. And since when is 41 poor anyway?

Why did you ignore his Bangalore knock vs. NZ when he came in with India in massive strife at 3-67 and then 4-80?

Shots like that don't stop him from being a very good test batsmen. They just don't make him a Clarke/Amla/Sanga etc. No one is claiming he is (other than Mark Nicholas for some reason)
And Michael Slater.

Slater, who I have a signed and framed photo of above my head.

Worst thing.

Look 400 would have been quite nice but 300 is and always was the target. Just need one more partnership to get there. Kohli and Pujara's dismissals are infuriating but we'd have jumped at this score.
