Yeah, Kane's probably fielded thousands of questions wrt first bat and first ton. Could have asked something different and interesting, but they didn't :(

Boult and Wagner have both been clocked at 140kph in several countries and Southee in his pie days could get it up there as well.

I've seen enough to think there is a little in this pitch provided you bowl well, but we'll see. Certainly 300 par.

Sodhi will struggle on home pitches against good players of spin this summer.

Just turned up the sound to catch Smithey saying, "Quite a good effort after 51 tests to get it up that much." wtf?

None of the Kiwi bowlers are as fast as Best (or Gabriel when he's in good rhythm). Their pace is certainly not the threat, it's going to be swing and what little seam there is on offer that is the biggest threat.

Surely you can see that from a West Indies point of view, there are no excuses to get bowled out for less than 350/400.

Wagner/Boult can get it up over 140 when they really get going, especially the latter. In the home series against England he was in the mid 140s at times.

Number 10 pulling Tino Best for a huge six in front of square .

A) Belter of a pitch
B) Don't bowl short, just don;t bother.

I think the implication was New Zealand doesn't have a bowler who averages around the 140kph mark - which is fair, even Boult can only touch that pace in short bursts. Not that pace matters that much in terms of wicket-taking ability.

It won't be easy bowling West Indies out here - Chanderpaul alone could probably bat a couple of days if things go his way. Of course the mood in the West Indies team may not exactly be buoyant and that may flow into their batting, especially if we get early wickets.

Ha! Because I clearly stated Tino Best is a wonderful bowler..............
No, you insinuated that because someone who can bowl 150kph can't take wickets, the NZ bowlers won't because they're slower.

But anyway, as I said earlier in the day, we'll let both sides bowl before judging the pitch. The pitch is good for batting but the bowling yesterday exacerbated how good conditions appeared.

Give Taylor half an hour to really tee off. If he gets away with it, give him a crack at Crowe's record. If he doesn't, he doesn't.
