But yeah. Ian Bell has played better innings than that, and yet he has no great innings. Come on, sort it out.

Considering the circumstances, Viv's performance in this series doesn't seem to be much inferior to
Lara's performance in 98-99 series against McGrath & co.
Lara averaged 90+, scoring nearly 40% of his team's runs in 98-99 Aus series, while no other batsman in his team averaged above 30.
Viv averaged 70+, scoring nearly 30% of his team's runs, while no other batsman averaged above 35. (none of the top-order averaged above 30).

Obviously Lara is ahead, but I am still interested in seeing where does this series performance of Richards stand.

I agree. I just feel that DoG rates longevity a bit higher than I do (and maybe you too) so the career points from some players puts them a few spots higher to what I think they should be. I hope that doesn't sound critical just my opinion, because this is great and the most comprehensive countdown list I think I've ever seen in anything, not just cricket.

I don't know about Peter May's history exactly but he looks to have played for a slightly longer period than Gilchrist who's career points is 36 higher. Does anyone know how many Tests England played from May's debut to final Test?

England played 84 tests in that period. So, he played in 79% of them. I start taking away career points if a batsmen played in less than 75% of his team's matches during his career.
