Taste it.

And meanwhile try arguing against 0.42 significant innings per match and averaging 57.79 (adjusted down from 62.80) in 50 matches since 2008.

****'s still not 30 yet, so might just moving into his peak, which is scary.

Only the 200 not out was remotely great tbh.

it was a great innings in that the 3 reverse sweeps to bring up the hundred were great, but overall hmmmmmm
It was statistically great though, which is all DoG's analysis can work out. Low scoring game until he came in and hit a big daddy hundred at a quick rate that allowed plenty of time for his side to win against a strong opposition. It pretty much ticks all the boxes.

But yeah. Ian Bell has played better innings than that, and yet he has no great innings. Come on, sort it out.

Yeah not even the best in that innings.

Seeing him that high makes me think Amla might be in top 25.

Btw still great work DoG don't want to demean the effort you've been putting in. Just venting my Devil hate.

it wasn't that low scoring coming in at 3-300!

dont mind him being that high, love watching him bat.

I don't think keeping for 14 out of your 85 tests should mean your test career should assessed as a wicket keeper batsman ala Gilly.

DoG, Could you give a rating for this series of Viv Richards (against Imran & co. in Pakistan in 80-81)?
HowSTAT! Series Analysis

Especially in below two test matches:
HowSTAT! Match Scorecard
HowSTAT! Match Scorecard

Considering the circumstances, Viv's performance in this series doesn't seem to be much inferior to
Lara's performance in 98-99 series against McGrath & co.
Lara averaged 90+, scoring nearly 40% of his team's runs in 98-99 Aus series, while no other batsman in his team averaged above 30.
Viv averaged 70+, scoring nearly 30% of his team's runs, while no other batsman averaged above 35. (none of the top-order averaged above 30).

Obviously Lara is ahead, but I am still interested in seeing where does this series performance of Richards stand.

Thanks.

May and Kanhai are two brilliant batsmen I honestly thought would be higher.
I agree. I just feel that DoG rates longevity a bit higher than I do (and maybe you too) so the career points from some players puts them a few spots higher to what I think they should be. I hope that doesn't sound critical just my opinion, because this is great and the most comprehensive countdown list I think I've ever seen in anything, not just cricket.

I don't know about Peter May's history exactly but he looks to have played for a slightly longer period than Gilchrist who's career points is 36 higher. Does anyone know how many Tests England played from May's debut to final Test?

Innings were ratings as follows:
1st test: 75 (5.29)
2nd test: 72 (7.72) & 67 (7.29)
3rd test: 18 (1.33)
4th test: 120 (12.69) & 12 (0.91)

Series I/W average of 5.87.

Lara's series against Australia in 1999 had an I/W average of 9.17.

England played 84 tests in that period. So, he played in 79% of them. I start taking away career points if a batsmen played in less than 75% of his team's matches during his career.

That's not how it works. The career points are made up of career length, centuries scored, significant innings played, great innings played, and double centuries scored.
Ah okay. No worries then :)

Compton, what a guy. His adjusted average to real average must be one of the smallest changes out of everyone.
