*Official* Warm up Matches Discussion

Hughes bowled trying a scoop shot? Er
lets be honest, these runs are pretty meaningless anyway. Its good for superficial confidence, but its a flat wicket against a very average attack, with the batsman no doubt trying to press on with excessive haste.

As far as I'm concerned, once trent bridge comes around, these tour matches are gonna mean diddly squat.

Ability to score fast no doubt will come into consideration if such a situation does occur in the Test. It won't be the top priority but the scenario certainly occurs in Tests where a team has to score quick runs.

That's kinda beside the point though. In the test matches, under pressure, and against much higher quality bowling, the majority of the time they won't be able to bat with such abandon. Am a little worried actually that this kind of run-a-ball thrashing will make players like Watson etc. feel overconfident and be more prone to doing something stupid early on. Hope they remember that it's test cricket and it requires a good deal of patience.

I'm impressed at how bad the commentators are at remembering who's actually on strike.

EDIT: Actually it's really annoying

well it is hard to tell the difference between the guy who touches his nuts at the end of each ball and Michael Clarke

i haven't heard of any instances of clarke getting hit on the nuts yet, we should check that he hasn't been replaced by an impostor

yeah this is fast approaching a glorified net session against the equivalent of a bowling machine set to extra friendly

OK, I'm confused. Clarke, Smith and Hughes went nuts pushing for the declaration, so why the **** are they still batting now that they are down to the bowlers? There is no way in hell Worcs are going to score over 400 in the time left. I don't get it.

given that haddin and watson haven't batted i assume that they actually want these two to have a hit

edit: and just as i say that

Just been looking at the Worcs bowlers stats and it appears they've fielded an attack of net bowlers and part timers. Hardly thorough workout material for the batsmen although I suppose time in the middle is paramount at this point.
