It's a confidence thing. You can't tell me it hurts a side in turmoil to go into a big series with two wins (hopefully) under their belt.Everyone's got a decent hit and it's not like they're atrocious batsmen. I think Aussie fans can be a bit more optimistic about their chances. Negotiate Anderson and then hope that Broad reverts to **** form and Swann has a dodgy elbow throughout. It can be done.

Well, all the play-acting and high-five'ing over Lehmann's appointment..it's all sort of been superficial. Their techniques haven't dramatically improved over the past fortnight but there seems a genuinely good vibe around the team after a long time from whatever I've been reading. The only way Australia would have got something of substance in these warm ups is if they were playing a Lions team the counties were always going to rest key players regardless. If the counties didn't have to manage they're players carefully then yes maybe a full strength Yorkshire or Surrey team might have been a handful.
