And they report it as 'believed to be cocaine'. So again it's just speculation, but as Brumbeh said, it's more than likely to be the case.

Generally accepted here that it nose candy

Frankie is almost universally regarded as the world's best but hardly the most disciplined and it's probably no coincidence that he was done in just about his first race outside the protection of the guy who supports European racing

NZ racing tragically lost jockey Ashlee Mundy today after a fall at the Kurow races yesterday. Only 26. :(

I was there. Not pleasant, and the writing was on the wall very early.

Will be a tough day at Waikouaiti tomorrow too.

Putting a few punts on today and noticed that Siddle's Birthday is racing in Benalla in 1 minute!

A brilliant NZ Derby over the weekend, won by a really sensational filly called Habibi - 7 starts now for 6 wins and a fast-finishing third. The first time in the 138-year history of the race that fillies have won it two years in a row, and only the second time ever that fillies have run 1-2 in the race. So it was pretty cool.

But it wasn't enough to be mentioned on the TV1 news - funny that the first time they've ever left it out (in my memory, at least) just happened to coincide with the first year of TV3 sponsoring the race.

Can't wait for Cheltenham next week. Really fancy a few but Gevrey Chambertin, Cantlow and Far West stand out along with Sam Winner.

As for the big races Zarkandar, Sprinter Sacre, Wonderful Charm ew and Silvinacio Conti.

So, Black Caviar's retired. 25 starts, 25 wins.

I was kind of disappointed the way the retirement happened - just a sudden announcement in the middle of last week that her amazing career was over. So we didn't know at the time that the TJ Smith last weekend was her last-ever race. I always kind of thought we'd know when she was having her last race and we'd get the chance to give her a proper send-off.

But it's not like she had anything more that she had to prove.

It's Kentucky Derby time again! My favourite race in the world - hopefully I can make it there again one day.

Seems like a pretty even bunch this year. Orb and the undefeated Verrazano maybe have the best credentials, though I also liked the way Normandy Invasion finished when he came 2nd to Verrazano in the Wood.

Orb wins!

He took three races to win a maiden, but he's figured it all out since then - five in a row now.

And a lot of people are saying he's had the right build-up and foundation to give the Triple Crown a real shake. Can he be the first one since 1978? I've been let down too many times to get carried away yet, but let's hope so.

In other news, Dawn Approach was scarily good in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket. 7 out of 7 for him now, and next stop Derby.

It'll be interesting to see if Hot Snap is as good as her half-sister Midday in the 1000 Guineas today. Midday was one of my favourites, so I'd like to see some more of that family ability on display.

No. No, he cannot.

I love this story.
Paynter A Popular Winner In BHP Return - YouTube

This horse nearly died twice last year (a life-threatening colon infection that required major surgery, then severe laminitis in his hooves); now he's back doing what he does best. Amazing. And I love the commentator's call of the last 200m or so.

Well that was a stroke of luck, I was just walking out the door earlier, when some bloke from Coral called me, I haven't been in the account for a while. They said I had a 15 quid free bet to be used today.

Oh alright thanks, did a quick perusal of the racing form, saw a Hannon horse one of the faves in the big handicap, so got on at 7s (each-way though, because I'm a wuss), nice bit of free money.
