It's because people rate him. Same as Anderson, they both go out and play shots rather than for the batsman at the other end.

Anderson, not a great shot player from what I've seen. Swann should play shot's it his natural game, but he should be more judicious with it. He's played many decent cameos for us, word up, but should score more.

Langer used to end up with his hands on the wrong side of his body at times, hold them up high and bring them down next to his right hip.

Yeah indeed. There's no reason he shouldn't be able to average in the mid to high 20s but he gets out softly on a very regular basis. He shouldn't try to become a defensive player but he should certainly be a bit more selective; he seems to fall into every trap that's set for him.
