Pretty good reason for why Johnson shouldn't be near the test side atm. Having a team that's very much in a rebuilding phase with mentally weak players isn't a great combination. It's kind of ridiculous he let something so innocuous as that get to him really...are you are professional athlete or what man!?

Even if that did get to him (and I reckon it gets to players a lot more than we realise, tbh) there's no way he should come out and say it. That's just outrageously stupid. They'll make sure they give him absolutely heaps every time he bowls in front of them now.

That's assuming he'll bowl in front of the Barmy Army ever again.

The Barmy Army will make a trip to Lilac Hill to sledge him in the 2021 Ashes warm-up game, where MJ bowls alongside Dennis Lillee.

God, they'll go to a grade game he's playing at now that he's said that. Even if the Perth Test is on at the same time.

It's Steve Harmison levels of softness itbt. Hope he never plays for Australia again.
Very similar careers. Good starts, brilliant for year or so and became number 1 in world then downhill fast with odd glimpses of old form but nowhere near enough consistency. Both seem softcocks though, Harmlessone getting homesick and Johnson getting upset first because his mummy fell out with his woman and then because the nasty men sang some nasty songs about him.

I think it was Brumby during the last Ashes who described Johnson as being dead behind the eyes. He was spot on.

I also had to laugh at his "it's because they're scared of me" reasoning.

There's a video on YouTube that's been taken from one of the Barmy Army in Sydney of Johnson getting abused as he walks out to bat, before he lasts all of one ball. KP is fielding on the boundary and is quite clearly conducting the choir; you don't do that if you're scared of an opposition player. There's not a chance KP would have acted like that if it had been a song about Glenn McGrath bowling ****e.
