Sami not bowling means Pakistan is one bowler short apparently, tactics are more hard to understand now for such early declaration if Misbah didn't have Sami in mind for bowling
Well he's on now. Sri Lanka need to step up the pace against Ajmal though, he's only gone for 20 off 12 and he's likely to bowl for most of the remainder of the day. They won't get over the line if he ends up bowling 30 overs for 60.Sami not bowling means Pakistan is one bowler short apparently, tactics are more hard to understand now for such early declaration if Misbah didn't have Sami in mind for bowling
awta.....a more useful off spinner than Swanny I reckon who is good against the left handersThink Ajmal is one of those bowlers who's naturally better against RHers, paradoxically. Bowls a very tight off-stump line and plays against both edges (and the stumps!) against the RHer but the angle in with the left hander from around the wicket makes that sort of approach a little more difficult.
Yes I can imagine Swann watching intently trying to learn some of Ajmal's trade secrets against RHers. But for all his skill, without the threat of turn the other way - by doosra or more conventionally -, he can not realistically hope to carry the same threat.Think Ajmal is one of those bowlers who's naturally better against RHers, paradoxically. Ajmal will get screwed up in Aus again despite being a much better bowler than he was during our last tour.I still think Swann can be much, much better against RHers than he is, where he has a tendency to bowl far too straight given the amount of turn he gets and hence gives up easy singles square on the legside.
They're just very different bowlers, and their style of bowling is very much suited both to their roles in their respective teams and, more importantly, the pitches they play on. I still have doubts about how Ajmal will go outside the subcontinent.
