**Official** Pakistan in Sri Lanka 2012

Was it a good decision, Sri Lanka giving up the run chase of 3rd test ?
Yeah good decision. With Ajmal and Junaid looking capable of taking wickets in bunches I think Mahela made the right decision. Sanga and Chandimal were going well and even after Chandimal was out Sanga kept up a pretty good tempo. If Mahela had kept up Chandimal's scoring rate they would have got the runs. But that would have meant taking quite a few risks - and then Mahela got out anyway. Samaraweera has big problems against Ajmal. Mathews and the lower order are not quite good enough at this stage to be relied upon to soak up the pressure of batting for two sessions against that Pakistan attack. They had to be cautious or it could definitely have gone wrong, jeopardizing the much-needed series win.

After so long without a test series win why risk it to win 2-0 when the series was already secure. Had you been winning many more games/series in recent times I have no doubt you would have gone for it and probably done it as success breeds confidence. As it is, you beat a good side deservedly over a series. Accept that as a start to building a side again and look forward to the next series.
