STEVE WAUGH

Bit worried about Steve and Curtly being in the same dressing though. Bit tense.

No, because they were proven mediocre at Test level.

Procter performed at every International opportunity he had, unlike Hick and Ramps.
Agreed. Hick and Ramps' issues at Test level were immediately apparent. They both debuted in 1991 against the West Indies and struggled straight away.

Procter played in two series, 1967 and 1970, against the best team in the world, Australia. While admittedly he didn't do much with the bat, averaging only 25, over the course of 7 matches he took 43 wickets at an average of 15. That suggests someone who's comfortable at Test level. Couple that with his outstanding first class record and you have a player who would surely have made it at Test level in a very big way.

Actually, the best team in the world in 1970 was England. Illingworth captained Boycott, Edrich, Snow, Underwood et al at their peak. Quite some team!

You're right - and this is the context in which Procter's pre-eminence in County Cricket needs to be seen.

Oh and in 1967 it had been the West Indies who had been world no.1. But hey.

Can i edit my pick to Bobby Simpson or is it to late?
I've made some errors in my selections so far. Too bad. If we start to chop and change things then it could get chaotic.

Consider our selection game like 'touch move' in chess.

Although it's MONKS call, and I'm happy whatever his decision.
