no, because it's too close to be sure quickly, and it's too boring to take all day to be sure, or too hard, impossible even sometimes to be completely sure.

It's always been BOD to the batsman, that's just the game. Luckily both teams get to bat so if you have the benefit of doubt going the same way all the time, it's fair.

Anyway even carrying on about it is getting tedious. great throw for the runout. simmons, despite benchmark's love, was horrible.
The umpire giving it out means that there's no doubt in his mind though.

Last 5 overs 14 runs WTF, I know we are in a great position and we can get by with just ticking along but it's a fine line between that and being too defensive, you also don't want the run rate to rise needlessly

As I finish typing Cook smacks a couple of fours, nice.

Lovely shot from Trott, should do that more often.

Oh, c'mon, no problem with the batsmen consolidating after a wicket. I know as English fans we fear ****-ups, but really the only way we could have lost was a tumble of wickets.

Yes maybe I was a bit quick, as we saw soon as I posted Cook realized they were going a bit slow and smashed a couple of fours. Like I said though it's a fine line between consolidating and being a bit too defensive especially with so many wickets in hand.

Good piece of fielding, after terrible piece. Will it cost the cap'n his ton?

No, Well done Cooky, he's done alright since he's come back.

100 for Cook!

Superb innings, and the 6th consecutive century by an England ODI opener. Three for Cook, two for Pietersen and one for Bell.

Outstanding batting.:thumbup1:

Another ton for Cook, amazing run scoring from the Captain, needed it tbh, this summer he's been out of the runs.

6 in a row now for the openers and the first time any side has done that.

The review is not to decide if the batsman is out or not. It's to decide if the umpire has clearly made an error or not.

Therefore, in the absence of a CLEAR error, the on-field decision stands.

I don't understand why this seems such a difficult concept to grasp for so many people.
Was he out?

In spite of all his advantages, 3rd umpire said NFI so let's hand it back to the guy who made a split second decision

Absolutely ridiculous

I have no problem with the perceived 50/50 calls staying with the on field umpire, just like for example if the umpire had given the Gayle one not out and England reviewed it, it would have stayed with the on field call.
