Agree, his batting is particularly underrated.Keen on Woakes getting a game. Could be a huge player for England if he stays injury-free IMO, especially in OD cricket.

Haha yeah there's no way anyone could say that a 6-11 of:Yeah definitely want to see Woakes get some action. I think he could be the man who converts England to 5 bowlers in the future.
Ha ha
So you and the umpire are in a better position to make a decision than a guy with every piece of technology available - complete horse ****
A few days ago, WI referred a decision against Trott where the ball was clipping leg stump and were shafted upon referral- if it is hitting the stumps then that is it
In the next innings, Bell was given not out despite driving it to the keeper (admitted hitting it at the post match conference) - hit the ball = out
IMO, DRS needs a complete overhaul as there is less certainty today than there was before its introduction
So blatant it didn't even show up on hotspot.Sure
Bell hits it and is given not out when blatantly caught behind
Obtuse?
**** that!
Symonds was lambasted the world over as a cheat for doing it once
Bell is 3 times and counting despite the NEW technology
I'd like to see both Meaker and Woakes get a game. We have to give these young players every opportunity to show what they can do as the likes of Anderson, Broad and Bresnan won't last forever and we will need injury cover.Annnnyyyyywwwwhhhhooooo
we've rested Broad, Bres and Swann. Be interesting to see who get's a game, Woakes as batting all-rounder you would think. Tredwell there instead of Briggs is a bit depressing. Would rather Meaker than Dernbach for the other seamers spot. May not have one though and go for Tredders and Samit, with Ravi getting a long bowl.
It's not a difficult concept, it's a flawed system.I don't understand why this seems such a difficult concept to grasp for so many people.
C'mon GF there is no way you can't have doubt there. You can think it's out, and as I said it probably did hit the pad first. Not beyond doubt though, even more so live. If he had no doubt he's blind. The umpire giving it out means that there's no doubt in his mind though.
He was operating at mid 80's the other day on Sky, so yes it's about time they credited him with MF.Woakes is made of glass though, at least over the past two years he as been. Would like to see him get a game and Cricinfo to replace the RM tag he has at the moment no way can they justify calling Woakes medium pace while still calling Zaheer Khan medium fast.
Yes, like you say he's had some horrid luck with injuries the last couple of years, I just hope he's be able to fulfill his potential because he really could be right up there. While I agree that the evidence we saw on the camera was inconclusive I don't see why the benefit of the doubt should suddenly go the batsman, perhaps give the team the review back maybe at most but beyond that, he should stay out.
@Jackers: yeah and on top of that he's probably one of the best all rounders in the country (After Bressie #totallynotbiasedtowrdsGodsowncounty)
It's easy to say that quite a few of the top six aren't good enough to play as specialist batsmen, but given the squad the West Indies have picked I think they realistically are. Charles definitely doesn't add more than any of the batsmen in the top six already. Edwards is debatable, especially since he plays a different role, but it becomes less debatable once you factor in his current retched form.Would guess Edwards and Charles come in for the next ODI.
The whole point of the review system is to eliminate howlers while discouraging players from reviewing marginal decisions. Implementing what you've suggested would just encourage it even more if players knew there was a good chance of not losing a review. While I agree that the evidence we saw on the camera was inconclusive I don't see why the benefit of the doubt should suddenly go the batsman, perhaps give the team the review back maybe at most but beyond that, he should stay out.
Could argue that if it wasn't for Bresnan then Woakes would already have some tests under his belt. He could be the unluckiest cricketer for years (our version of Stuart Law) as he would have walked into the side for most of the last 20-30 years.Haha yeah there's way anyone could say that a 6-11 of:
6 Prior
7 Woakes
8 Bresnan
9 Broad
10 Swann
11 Anderson
... would be a long tail in Test cricket. Woakes needs to actually stay fit for a reasonable length of time before it's even remotely feasible though.
