The ATG World XI's game

1. Michael Slater - been pushing for his inclusion for a while now. Personal dramas tend to overshadow just how good he was.
2. Archie McLaren - as much as I want to go for Dempster or Cook, my gut feeling is to keep backing McLaren.

3. Douglas Jardine - Utterly ridiculous that he hasn't been selected yet. Great batsman in his own right, worthy of a place without taking into consideration his captaincy.
4. Kumar Duleepsinhji - Another one who should have been selected long ago. Fantastic batsman. Just beats out Leyland for the slot, IMO.

Erapalli Prassana - One of the best off-spinners of all time; an average of 30 doesn't do him justice at all. The more I read about him, the higher he goes up in my estimation.

Rate him above Slater, did it for longer and Slater bullied England a fair bit.

Glenn Turner

Singleminded and prepared to tough it out against better sides.

Aravinda de Silva

Super skilled, and a very very good player in the latter half of his career. Some handy off-spin as well.

Damien Martyn

Loved watching him, proved his versatility in the sub-continent as well.

Subhash Gupte

Extremely skilled operator with a good record against nearly everyone he played.

World N XI
1. Alistair Cook
2. Justin Langer
3. Zaheer Abbas
4. Graham Thorpe
5. Michael Clarke
6. Mark Waugh
7. Monty Noble
8. Graeme Swann
9. Jack Blackham+
10. Jack Cowie
11. Bill Johnston

World N XI is probably a bowler short with neither Noble nor Waugh being frontline bowlers. Jack Gregory would have also provided a spear-head for the bowling attack if he were included. I doubt very much whether this team could bowl their opposition out twice in 5 days.

John Edrich & Majid Khan (unflappable neatly complements tempermental genius)

Herbie Taylor at No.3 (immaculate technique that made SF Barnes look average. Someone to bat well with Edrich if Majid's fireworks go fizz.)

Maurice Leyland (never troubled by the legendary Bill O'Reilly)

Harbajhan Singh (great bowler and useful No.8)

They don't need to - get them 7 down in the second dig with an over to go and bring Pup on. Game over

Barnes hasn't been selected yet?!?!? The only reason I didn't vote for him was because I thought I couldn't..
No idea how he's been overlooked, I don't think he's even featured on the shortlists either.

It needs to be in the right format ideally - not sure I have the patience to put in 200 or so players.
What is the right format? I'll help out if I can.

Has Larry Gomes been included (Ave 39.63 with 9 centuries)? I remember his century at the SCG against Lillee and Thomo (1982) well.
