Kevin Pietersen Retires From ODIs and T20Is

Since making his debut I think he's only missed about 10-12 England matches some for the Pakistan ODI series and then some of the ODIs after the 06-07 Ashes when he got injured I think and 3 Ashes tests in 09.

Just feel the ECb is been more than awkward about the matter.

Its also tragic that by wanting him available for the WT20 I'm in agreement with Piers Morgan, a commonly accepted sign of the apocalypse.

Though I agree, I am very much convinced the majority of the responsibility to find a way out is on the ECB's shoulders. Players can make clumsy, ill-advised, plain wrong, stupid or dreadful decisions as many times as the can. But it will always be board's job to find a way out. That's why not every Tom, Dick or Harry who as ever held a bat as a young man, can be in such a board.

For some reason, sports boards, no matter where or what sport, are usually firmly undisclosed institutions that cannot accept criticism. Whereas freedom of well-argumented criticism is a common right in any decent society, it seems not to be applied at sports boards. IMHO, strict undisclosure is only there to hide their idiocy.

That's what I think: only idiots allowed in the ECB.... Bunch of morons...... And that doesn't mean I fully agree with KP!

The ECB should then conclude what most people with common sense already know: T20 will compete with ODI and probably win, but it will never beat Test Cricket.

If what you described will happen, we will see tours of 3 Tests, 7 T20's and a single ODI, rather than 7 ODI's and a single T20.

Tbh didn't realise there had been that many players rested over the last few years and imo it shows what particular ***** they're being to KP, taking into consideration he's played a **** load of cricket for England over the last few years with out any time off at all.

Didn't he pick up a bit of a injury during the course of the India tests and was out for the one-dayers against India at home.

No I've just found it, he was rested for the Indian ODi's and then there was those two late T20's against WI that they picked a young side for that a few payers sat out for.

They probably have, I remember Broad missed the one-dayers in India and the last one against them in England as well.

Talks well too; was on Cricket Writers on TV last week with Hayter from the Mail & Wilde from the Times. James looking more and more like Douglas Adams as well.

Couple of interesting tidbits I noted from the excert:

1) KP supports the Springboks

2) When offered the captaincy Strauss suggested someone younger might be a better call.

Says everything about the two men's respective characters, IMHO.

KP has been open about supporting the Boks. Said it in his own book but said as a kid he always supported England in footy.
