***Official*** England in Sri Lanka 2012

I have a feeling that in the theoretical third test that England would probably be back to their crushing machine best. You could see the confidence growing throughout that test match.

Windies are most likely gonna get a proper tamping in May. Having watched the way their top three batted against OZ yesterday they were lucky to not be 20/3 with all the dropped catches. Will set us up well for the (3 test FFS) series with SA.

Why not have MJ open in tests as well?
MJ has some serious problems against moving ball as well as bounce. Sanga and Mathews are not the best against moving ball, but their technique against shorter ball makes them non-candidates for intimidatory bowling. And both of them are stroke makers as well.

If Windies decides to play two seamers and Sammy with Bishoo and Narine, England will have a tough challenge.

I think PJ would make a really good opener. If he's willing to take on the extra responsibility. It would also give chandimalli a place in the side

They need to get Chandimal in the side soon and give him a run as they have 4 of the top 6 who are mid 30's already so need to blood replacements sooner rather than later or face the Indian batting problems we have seen of late.

Not really fair to expect your keeper to open in Tests is it? You may as well hand the gloves back to Sangakkara if you're going to do that. Even Alec Stewart, who was an experienced opener, only combined the two jobs once or twice in Test matches.

Mathews should open; it's a no brainer really. I don't really think it'd "sacrifice" him as such either - I actually think he'd be a better opener than he a number six batsman. Improvements all round.

Won't be happening because IPL overlaps with first and second test so Narine won't be available. Also would be professional suicide playing two spinners that early in the season, especially given the fact that neither has much/any experience in England.

West Indies were a rabble last time they came here and even though Gibson seems to have instilled more togetherness and improved the performances the IPL again is going to miss things around again. Can't see anything else but England pulverising WI in early season conditions.

Was away this weekend, and wasn't able to watch the last day.

Anyway 2-3 against the number 1 and 2 side in the world over the last 4 months, would gladly take it.:D
