Ian Bishop's hostile pace was eventually his downfall, his body unable to cope with the consistent pressure of fast bowling. Wonderfully talented with a smooth side-on action, Bishop swung the ball away from right-handed batsman at a delightfully brisk pace. His opening bowling partnership with Curtly Ambrose provided a highly intimidating arena for any opening batsman, and one can only imagine how good Bishop could have proven himself had it not been for his frequent back problems. He was a consistant performer in any conditions and is often underrated by fans.
