What about our senior bowler with over 200 wickets? :(
What about him? it was obvious they were giving both a rest but in these conditions I'd go with Finn, Broad and maybe Bresnan before him. I'd pick Jimmy before Dirtbag if it was a choice between the two, without question.

Bresnan has bowled 6 overs in 3 months. As for Anderson, at number 16 in the rankings, above Broad 29 and Bresnan 30. I was hoping for him to get into the top 10.:(

We need someone to bowl the death overs, that's why I'd pick Bresnan over Jimmy as well as Bresnan's strong show in the WC and Jimmy's ordinary one. With the emergence of Finn and along with Broad's new found awesomeness, I'd find it hard to pick him.
Granted with a new ball from each end, Jimmy comes into his own a bit especially in England but over there, I don't think so.

Anderson is much, much better first up than anyone else.

Jimmy should just bowl all 10 from the start, problem is of course if he does not start well then you are kind of ****ed as to what to do with him.

That's what your sixth bowling option is for. Your death bowler having an off day is actually a much bigger problem because you can't exactly yank Bresnan off after the 48th and bowl Trott or Samit in the 50th over. If Jimmy only bowls 5 then you can make up those other 5 a lot easier through the middle overs than if one of your death bowlers has a bad day. And it'll be rare anyway because he's a beast up front.

With two new balls now there really is absolutely no reason not to play Jimmy as a specialist new ball bowler and pick the two other quicks as your death bowlers.

Who would you go with as far as the seamers for the first one day game?

On another note, looks like Buttler won't make the first game at the very least atm, still hasn't recovered from his hand injury.

Yeah it should do and I would probably play him anwyway with Broad and Finn, for all that Bresnan has done to prove people wrong I still don't really rate him that highly as a one day bowler. Would like to see all 4 in English conditions though.

for a guy who took Murali and Warne head on his batting against spin has really regressed at a rate of knots.

For the love of god can we pick more back-up batsmen in the squad so we don't have to throw away any more caps on Ravi sadsack Bopara?

UGH.

Pakistan 4 spinners - Hafeez, Afridi, Ajmal, Malik
England 2 spinners - Swann and Patel

No left-armer in either side, which is bizarre, particularly from England, given the number of right and left handers in that Pakistan side. Would have liked to have seen Briggs here.

England have KP too, in theory.

I would have also liked to have seen Briggs play, quite happy to see one of the seamers given a rest - do hope they're rotated at least.
