But 'e can 'it it 'ard!
I think that's exactly why he was selected - as a man with a free license to slog no matter what. What annoys me the most about CdG is that he rarely considers the situation in the game. 200-4 or 10-4, he bats in exactly the same way. Needs a bit more nous as well as a bit more skill.
Anton Devcich (face)I honestly can't repeat enough how bad he is. He really stands apart from the crowd as the worst limited overs batsman I can recall. Can anyone think of another "limited overs specialist" who plays predominantly as a batsman, averages less than 21 in both LO formats and takes 5 years to score his first 50 while getting picked game after game? It's truly staggering.
Talent for a batsman= ability to score runs.Look, ignoring a lot of this crap about 'worst ever' and whatever other stuff I've had to endure in the last few pages, I merely said Colin is more talented. And I stand by it. I've seen more than enough of both to know.
Let's not confuse talent with weight of runs. It's very easy to work out the difference.
I'm kinda on the fence on that front but leaning towards "gtfo ****". I mean, can he really bowl a bit? His bowling record is worse than his batting record!CdG didn't actually get picked for the ODIs though did he? He was just in the T20 squad, and a T20 average of 20 with a strike rate of 170 is legitimately pretty useful, especially if you can field and bowl a bit. Don't see the issue.
Nah, I really don't think so. When you've only got 20 overs, someone who's going to give you 20 (11) on average is a pretty good player, even if they rarely ever bowl. I mean I know it's pretty anti-cricket but so is T20 in general; when you've only got 20 overs you don't need all your batsmen to have the ability to build a proper limited overs innings.I'm kinda on the fence on that front but leaning towards "gtfo ****". Due to his bowling being so expensive that I'd probably never seriously consider bowling him, I can only evaluate him as a batsman. I know it's T20 but wouldn't you still want an actual batsman (read: someone who can score more than 40) as a specialist bat?
DWTA. For mine, he has to play as a specialist bat. Therefore imo he's a waste unless he bats, probably, top 5. If you lose 3 early wickets you still want a bloke who can actually bat over 25 balls without getting out. It's a complete waste of a spot in the side, surely? Tim Southee can come in and slog and never make more than 40 as well.Nah, I really don't think so. Was around Small's pace. Was McClenaghan bowling at Milne pace or Small pace?
Small definitely had some swing going on. If only Milne would pitch it up some more. Perhaps getting dealt to on some grounds is meaning it's a bit afraid to do this atm. I feel he's sacrificing wickets for damage mitigate.tbf did anyone actually swing the ball today? Even the likes of Mason, Small and Martin were barely able to find any movement in the air. Maybe the temperature played a part because I doubt it was the warmest day ever done there. Either way though McClenaghan still looked impressive as you said, was absolutely gutted that the weather went south because that was actually fun to watch, was all over the batsmen during that short period and would've loved to have seen more.
