Jimmy with a double wicket maiden. He is really gunning it in List A cricket.

Through 8 matches
215 runs @ 72, S/R 128
and
15 wickets @ 19.8

Hopefully Otago can win this and he can get a chance to perform in a televised game.

EDIT: And he gets another one. 10-2-23-4 WAG

Was interested to see McClenaghan bowl after talking to some lads last week who played with him and didn't really rate him.

Very impressed. Bowls quick, hits a good line and length and has a nice bouncer. Heard he has been swinging it a lot recently so was surprised not to see him move it through the air.

Also Small looked very promising and as soon as Milne pitched it up he was more threatening.

Out of the two would rather see Small in a one day team.

Yeah Auckland v CD was on Sky.

But it's been abandoned now because of the rain. So what happens now in terms of who gets to the final? Reserve day?

CD go through to the final because they finished top of the table.

Otago vs Auckland on Wednesday to see who plays CD in the final.

tbf did anyone actually swing the ball today? Even the likes of Mason, Small and Martin were barely able to find any movement in the air. Maybe the temperature played a part because I doubt it was the warmest day ever done there. Either way though McClenaghan still looked impressive as you said, was absolutely gutted that the weather went south because that was actually fun to watch, was all over the batsmen during that short period and would've loved to have seen more.

Small got the odd one to move in I thought but that could have been his natural angle. The pitch was pretty good for guys who bowl awkward lines at a decent clip though. A few balls from Milne in particular really took off.

Great to see Neesham's massive contribution to Otago's win. Having a dream season so far.
Would've loved to have seen Neesham play against Zimbabwe personally, in either the 20/20's or ODI's, just to give him a taste. He's a lot more talented with the bat than either Ellis or de Grandhomme IMO and he's got a lot more about his bowling then either of them too (even if Ellis is slightly more effective at this stage of his career) However I would much prefer to see him, along with Tom Latham to be playing as much first class cricket as possible at this stage of their career, would probably be more beneficial to both of them at this stage rather then playing one or two games and sitting on the bench for two weeks.

That said Otago actually have to pick him for the four dayers, something they didn't do earlier in the season.

A lot more talented than de Grandhomme? You're having a laugh now. I know you don't rate him but that's blatantly wrong.

By the looks of it Neesham used to post on here, and so you've got an affinity with him. And that's great. But I'm pretty sure even he would say he's nowhere near ready for international cricket.

Unless "talent" with the bat is defined by a constant and unremitting inability to score runs than Neesham is certainly well ahead of CdG as a limited overs player, even if he's only scored runs in the backyard

I honestly can't see how ANYONE with any batting pretensions could be behind De Grandhomme. Has a player ever been given so many opportunities to not score runs? Even a bloke who plays, say, 4 or 5 games and averages 10 could at least argue that they haven't been given the opportunity to definitively prove their inability.

I honestly can't repeat enough how bad he is. He really stands apart from the crowd as the worst limited overs batsman I can recall. Can anyone think of another "limited overs specialist" who plays predominantly as a batsman, averages less than 21 in both LO formats and takes 5 years to score his first 50 while getting picked game after game? It's truly staggering.
