Quota system as in ?The IPL has a quota system for young cricketers?
It did iirc. Exposing the innocent U19s to the evils of the cricketing world..The IPL has a quota system for young cricketers?
Mark Nicholas:Quota system as in ?
U - 19 players get drafted to the teams with a maximum price. While every teams needs to/can have certain cricketers from their catchment area IIRC.
That's a good one. It's one thing to be on the other end when you're batting partner is turning it on, plodding about at 100 SR. But scoring consistent singles is much more effective than the odd flukey boundary and soaking up a ton of dot balls.- Percentage of balls scored from
Yeah in ODI cricket especially. Mussey the prime example. At least Channel 9 are trying with regards to different stats.
Personally I'd like to see more focus on two key stats which don't get much publicity:
- Percentage of balls scored from
- Percentage of total teams innings scored by individual
The first one in particular. Much more useful in rating a players value.
No idea what he is referring too tbh. Teams aren't forced to play young players but there is only a limitation on foreign players.Mark Nicholas:
".. although some of the Big Bash teams might be higher in quality than some of the IPL teams. The IPL has a quota system for young players which is a fantastic thing for Indian cricket, but some may argue it lowers the standard."
Everything I say is good. That's a good one. It's one thing to be on the other end when you're batting partner is turning it on, plodding about at 100 SR. But scoring consistent singles is much more effective than the odd flukey boundary and soaking up a ton of dot balls.
a la Duss.
Yeah; I think it's basically the closest equivalent in cricket to on-base-percentage, which was the most high profile "Moneyball stat" if you like.Yeah in ODI cricket especially. Mussey the prime example.
