No idea what he is referring too tbh. Teams aren't forced to play young players but there is only a limitation on foreign players.
Thinking about it he might be referring to the earlier regulation about having fixed number of u19 cricketers in the squad that was there. It has been removed now , but still don't get how it would lower the standard of the playing 11 ?

How can't you see how age restrictions on squad members would lower the standard?

Yeah; I think it's basically the closest equivalent in cricket to on-base-percentage, which was the most high profile "Moneyball stat" if you like.
Yeah, I agree with this. You could add it to a stat that shows power (runs per scoring shot etc) to get something equivalent to OPS too.

Or we could just give each player random numbers between 0 and 100.

Because there was no real restriction on squad sizes(or it was something like 30 out of which 4 had to be U19).

Some of the squads were really huge and not even all of them travelled for every match.

Yeah, the BBL teams don't play young players, unlike the IPL teams.

It's amazing how easily Mark Nicholas comes up with such dross. Even more amazing how no one ever calls him out on it.

Good god, to jag the captaincy as essentially a nuffy, Bailey must be a good bloke.

What? When you walk up to him, does he start buying you beers etc.
