Didn't watch much of Kallis' knock here but Clarke's was a genuine highlight reel, best innings I've ever seen regardless of the bowling. And I don't even like batsmen.Well he was scratchy at first and then he cashed in. It was not as if there was scoreboard pressure either. Would like to see him making runs when chasing tough fourth innings totals like in Joburg and Hobart. The bowling today was filth and the pitch flat. As a seasoned batsman at the peak of his career he is in the luxury position of batting down the order and comes in usually when the shine is off the ball.
Ditto the Lankan bowling here. These innings are great for the statistically minded but wouldn't be rated among the toughest runs ever made.
Enjoyed watching AB de V. improvise though; it showed what a talent he is and he's very team-oriented.
Prasad got Kallis twice. SL fielders were not good enough. If they have caught Kallis at 0 then game would have been much different.Tbf once Clarke got to about 20 it might as well have been cashing in considering the quality of bowling being dished up at him.
Anyway, Kallis
Bizarre decision by Smith imo.
And SL fans who don't think Kulasekara would improve this side are kidding themselves.
Not necessarily. AB and Rudolph didn't seem at all troubled.Prasad got Kallis twice. SL fielders were not good enough. If they have caught Kallis at 0 then game would have been much different.
That's a silly comment, the quality of an innings should be partly measured by the quality of the bowling and the difficulty of the pitch. For e.g. AB was simply toying with the bowling here for the much of the latter part of his innings but if you asked him if it was his best innings it would be highly unlikely he'd agree because the bowling was pedestrian and the pitch very good.Didn't watch much of Kallis' knock here but Clarke's was a genuine highlight reel, best innings I've ever seen regardless of the bowling. Well, Clarke was just hitting everything in the middle. He scored 200 in a day and I don't recall him miscuing one or anything. Plus his strokeplay is sooo good to watch, Lara-esque. This is/was definitely a very special innings from Clarke, and it takes a lot to impress me.That's a silly comment, the quality of an innings should be partly measured by the quality of the bowling and the difficulty of the pitch. would be hilarious if Lanka draw this. Would sum up South Africa they have looked a million dollars at time this summer but all they have to show is 2 drawn test series.
Tahir looked good towards the end but the wicket was a bit of a rash shot and it was caught well in the deep. How was Tahir's bowling yesterday....got Dilshan out but was it a good ball or just a silly shot from Dilshan?
And is Dale Steyn finally showing signs that he is a human being after all?
who did he drop? and off whose bowling?Tahir looked good towards the end but the wicket was a bit of a rash shot and it was caught well in the deep.
Steyn was basically bowling below his normal speeds on a very flat pitch. There's not much swing around with the sun beaming down and no cloud cover. Morkel was a bit inconsistent but all the quicks produced some good deliveries. AB dropped a catch.
Off Morkel's bowling.who did he drop? and off whose bowling?
