Indian Domestic Season 2011/2012

I heard some seriously good things about this young kid from Mumbai, Suryakumar Yadav - he is scoring some serious runs @ handy strike rate. A sign of a good cricketer really.

Has anyone seen him in action??
Haven't seen him in action, but have been following his scores. Seems a pretty exciting prospect.

Congrats to Jaffer. Well deserved. So bad he couldnt continue his domestic form to international stage.

Best thing was that Amol Majumdar was in commentary box when Jaffer broke his record, Amol was so happy that a Mumbaikar broke his record
Jaffer and Amol have been tireless, loyal servants of Mumbai cricket, West Zone cricket and the Indian domestic scene on the whole, and should be saluted for that. They've earned their spurs in the hardest form of the game, and have for long, been leagues ahead of the puny limited-overs specialists picked for India. Both were unlucky to miss out on a regular India berth- especially Mazumdar, who couldn't break into the middle-order, while Jaffer struggled to make the side due to the monopoly of Sehwag, Tendulkar and Gambhir. At a late age, both (as also Badri) can still give India's so-called promising youngsters a hard run for their money.

IPL squads should take note and offer them plum positions in the batting order, instead of wasting money on foreign imports.

Disappointing news for Irfan fans- Baroda is out of the race. They should hang their heads in shame for throwing away their wickets for less than 300, twice.

The quarters have an unlikely combination- Rajasthan and MP have made the quarters, having been in the Plate league not too long ago, and just sitting in the middle of their tables. Haryana made it earlier, but are not very different. All three are way behind Karnataka, Mumbai and TN- but the absence of national players from the Southern teams makes Mumbai a clear favourite, again.

Mithun could have made a big help to Karnataka and instead, he is wrongly warming the bench for India.

Definitely wasted on the India bench. He could have played this season and improved as a bowler as well, but now he's just excess baggage.

Hyderabad is back in the Elite league, while it's back to the lower division for Gujarat.

Noticed that the other day, listed as Fast as well?
I noticed it when I saw he was rated as one of the top 70 bowlers in the world. :p

I really doubt he is actually fast though; there's no way a bloke with that record at the age he is wouldn't have been spoken of in Indian selection terms if he was quick.

I refuse to notice any Indian player until he's played for India.

That, and I'm too cheap to pay for a neo cricket subscription.

Got a few holidays going on now, tbh. But generally it's either CW/CSimming at work or while doing other stuff on the computer at home. Of late, I've just been taping the matches and fast forwarding through the boring bits later. England tour was the last time I watched the cricket live.

I take solace in the fact that while this tour is turning out similar to the England one, this time I get to suffer in HD :(
