Considering Trott and Bell have played in the same county side as Tahir for a while, he might not cause too many problems.
Well they would not have spent all that much time with him. Not really an issue though, regardless of familiarity Tahir bowling well would pose England some real problems, bowl like he has so far and he will go for an awful lot.

Hope he is persisted with for now, is always going to provide a lot more entertainment than Harris.

Either Kleinvledt has come on leaps and bounds or there is a lack of quality knocking about. Last time I saw him play the Kenyans were lining him up and he was getting bowled domestically by waist high full tosses all at the same time being at least 5kg overweight.

No Levi is a joke, he should be opening with Hash. And just pick Albie Morkel at 6 and don’t bowl him. Gonna be like the WC again where on paper there is batting depth but Botha, P and Parnell won’t win many games with the bat chasing, Albie will. Few guys hanging around for the appearance money.
Rory has always had ability, he has just never tkaen his opportunity or his weight has let him down.

So basically this is his last opportunity to grab because this season he has been very impressive. He needs to get a full 10 over spell together as well, which has been his problem. He was bowling quite sharpish and was in the batsmans faces in the one-day cup.

I call it the Pybus effect, brought through Steyn and Morkel and he may have got under the skin of both Philander and Kleinveldt and woken them up.

There is still a 15th spot open, Albie just hasn't played enough cricket and performed enough at domestic level yet and I wouldn't be surprised to see him take the 15th spot for New Zealand and they even may take 16 for NZL tour with T20 in mind and Levi will get his chance there.

I tell you I don't give rats ass about winning T20 Int, so we should be giving yotuh its go in home T20's. Open with Levi and Vandiar, 3)Ingram 4) Rossouw 5) AB 6) Albie

Tahir has a lot to prove still.

I wonder if the art of leg-spin bowling is struggling to survive at the highest level. I mean how many have hve been given a go in international cricket in the last 3 to 4 years and not grabbed their opportunity. Sure its the hardest art in cricket but still.

With an attacking finger spinner, at least you know he can hold an end and change up quickly to looking for wickets. Brings the captain more control and it seems the way lately.

Jayasooriya has said that sri lankans choked the south africans in this game, but i feel that there was no choking involved here. With a little bit of luck on our side, we just outplayed them throughout the game.

Now Jayasuriya is trying to be the Sri Lankan version of Kepler Wessels. Should just STFU. Before this he was talking about adapting to SA conditions, while he himself averaged a paltry 15 odd out there over a number of tours.

The series is not over yet.

Squad: AB de Villiers (capt & wk), Hashim Amla (vice-capt), Johan Botha, JP Duminy , Faf du Plessis, Dean Elgar, Jacques Kallis, Rory Kleinveldt, Morne Morkel, Wayne Parnell, Robin Peterson, Graeme Smith, Dale Steyn, Lonwabo Tsotsobe
So the overhyped (IMO) duo of Colin Ingram and David Miller find themselves back in the dark. I always felt that they were not up there. Bashed some minnows at the start of their careers but nothing much afterward...

And can someone explain to me why captaincy has been taken away from Amla?

Agree on Ingram and Miller being overhyped.

Amla is not the ODI captain, de Villiers is. de Villiers was injured, so Amla captained in his spot.

Ingram and Miller dont fill me with too much confidence. Im kinda wondering how the team wil look on game day, especialy in the lower order. I feel thats also one of our problems.

Don't back Ingram...yet. He has potential I guess, but I don't think he's near ready.

Miller should be in the T20 side - I'd like someone like him in the ODI side at no7ish, but they must be an AR! Never ever should a specialist slogger be selected purely on slogging imo. They should be able to bowl eg. Klusener, Afridi, Pathan etc.

It's a problem in the test arena too. No doubt Smith, Amla, Kallis and de VIlliers are 4 of the best bats around but their lower order in all formats doesn't give confidence.

Ashwell Prince has been released from the 3rd test squad.

End of his test career. Has to be at 34.

Alviro to open and Rudolph to bat 6.

Haha; why did they name him in the first place? Wanted to debate it over a few dozen drinks on NYE or something?

Haha confused myself.

Would have loved to have been a fly on the wall for that discussion on new years eve. After a bit of champers possibly.

My only reasoning, right after the test match, they were obviously so uncertain they just named him and now they didn't want him with the squad so close to the test match so that Alviro and Jacques Jnr can settle into their roles for the test match.

what's happened to duminy
Unfortunately looks a million dollars but cannot keep enough of the good balls out to make our test team. In good balls, I mean good short balls and good off-break bowling (either arm-ball for LBW or spinning one fighting the angle for nicking to slip) .

I will never write him off because the boy ooozes talent. Mentally he needs to get himself back into the right frame of mind for the longer version of the game again and fight his problems.

He has been doing fine in the ODI format.

He's a pretty decent T20 batsman tbh (admittedly over-rated; but still decent); he should just never ever bowl.

EDIT: At Furball
