Gibbs once said that there was a clique running the team. Smith, kallis,Boucher and De velliers. Ask yourself why every time bouchers perfomance is questioned, he is defended staunchly by ass kissers. If we are to be hönest, Smit from the dolphins is a capable wickie. But he wont ever play unless hudson grows balls.

Amla and Kallis are both better.
Kallis is in the twilight of his career. While AB may not be better than Amla he certainly is a strong piece of the puzzle for SA future.

No point in adding more mileage to his wheels if another specialist Keeper can be brought in.

Or one could argue that him taking the gloves gives us the opportunity to have another specialist batsman in the lineup.

I'm not particularly sold one way or the other, I'm just trying to cause some debate. What I will say is that I think AB is massively overrated as a Test batsman.

its amazing that 5 out of our top 6 batsmen average over 40 and 4 of them average over 45, but we get rolled over far to frequently. Looking at our team on paper, we should be pushing england for the top spot. But we cant since our team crumbles easily. Once the top 4 batsmen go out, its game set and match.

That's because 7 downwards is like tissue paper.

SA have fielded #11s in the past that would have an argument for batting 7 in the current lineup.

SA is overrated on paper. Boucher has been spent for some time. Tahir bowling means the attack has no balance because all the bowlers (with Philander out) are attacking.

Rudolph has been proven short of test class, Prince has been ballast for some time. The tail is like a house of cards. SA has a lot of problems, some of which are fixable with good selections. Also AB tends to play rash shots when the team requires consolidation.

As for SL getting paid and coincidence? Would Durban and an opposition flaying SA be just as coincidental?

In any case SA hasn't won a home series for a long time so you half expected them to lose this so that they have a fight on their hands for the next test. They're quite fragile at home.

I dunno what we can do with AB though. He's never inspired confidence with his batting, when in a tough situation (FTB, etc). I'd suggest promoting him up the order, but he's not had a great time there either. He's also not good enough behind the wicket to get picked for that. I don't see him ever getting dropped though. Pickle...

Kallis needs to fire by the end of the New Zealand tour or questions will be asked, but it's not a real issue right now. The only batsman really safe right now on terms of merit is Amla, the rest have been woefully below par.

So glad Sanga tonned up. Love that man.

No homo.
agreed. sangakarra is really building quite the legacy for himself. EASILY the best SL batsman ever and i'd be really curious to know how people rate him against the best of any country of the last 20 years.
