Been a top performance by SL from the sound of it. Sam and Sanga have both stood up big time. Still have to take 10 more wickets, but with the best part of two days I expect them to get it done.

As for SA, this is where they have to show some guts. Its all very well performing when your on top, but this is when scoring big really counts. Big pressure on the top order. Particularly with some good batting talent waiting behind the scenes.

If Saffers draw the series, it will be the 5th consecutive series at home they failed to win.
Time for head of selectors Hudson to make a few people walk the plank. Start with Prince and Rudolph. Next series bloody make sure Boucher is far from the team.

Boucher might score a career saving 100 second dig though. Its in his nature

Boucher of old could do that. The current player is playing on reputation. Im begining to think that Pollock is now seriously missed.

Rudolph will go IMO, but prince - there is the quota issue so drastic decisions are less likely.

Alviro peterson is a coloured player so if Rudolph goes then he comes in. By the way im also black, but id rather have people playing when they deserve it. And Petersen deserves it. As for Prince i think the next Logical replacement for him is Dean Elgar, JP Duminy, Rilee Russouw or alternatively Collin Ingram, but he is a long long shot. Out of all those guys id take Elgar and Peterson with Russouw as back up batsmen..

wayne Parnell seems to be developing nicely out of sight. Bats in the top six for his franchise and opens the bowling.

People are always on at keepers to improve their batting, and be picked as all-rounders... yet when you find someone who looks like he *might* be the real deal as a keeper-batsman, there are immediately calls for him to become a specialist bat.

I don't get it - a good keeper/bat is one of the best players you can have in a Test side for the balance that he adds to the order at 7 - why give it up?
To be fair Jayawardene isn't the worlds worst anyway, could fit all of them in if Mathews could bowl more. Might help the struggling batting too if you had Chandimal, Mathews and Jayawardene at 6, 7 and 8.

Chandimal - What a fantastic bat. I'm more convinced he'll be extremely successful than I am about any other young talent.

Gotta love two test matches running on the same day at different times.

I would agree in principle but considering that a fair number of our specialist bats are in their mid thirties, I would say a specialist batsman to take up the mantle is a reasonable shout. For the moment, a keeper-batsman role is fine but there will come a time when he may have to play as a specialist bat and give up the gloves to someone like Kaushal Silva.
