*Official* Sri Lanka in South Africa 2011/12

Both will be dropped from the Test side when Prasanna Jayawardene returns, and Silva will probably never play a Test again.
Both will make a come back when Dilshan and Sam calls it a day in one or two seasons time. Silva to be the opener, and Chandimal to bat at #5.

In 3 years time SL test line up may look like
Thirimanne, Silva, Sanga, Mathews, Chandimal, PBB Rajapakshe and PJ

After Sanga, don't know who could even join that line up.

You think Silva has the potential to become an opener in Tests? Does he open/has opened for his club even? I highly doubt it. Also his ability to play as a specialist batsman is debatable.

Plus Paranavitana will hang around for another few years, so Thirimanne will take that no.3 position I think. And also, a long shot, I'd like to see Army opener Mohamed Feshal rise and take that opener's slot after some time.

Silva was an opener during his school days, and found it tough to get there when he played for SSC. Atapattu, Daniels, Paranavithana were openers for SSC during his time. Plus his wicket keeping meant that he has to go down the order. He has a very tight technique against pace, and not the flashy type of player. So has enough credentials to open.

No 3 spot most probably will be taken up by Bhanuka Rajapakshe, the dazzling left handed all rounder.

Bloody hell this de Lange bloke looks the real deal. Looks even quicker than he is, and he is pretty bloody fast.

LOL, all of a sudden South Africa seem like they have a factory line of quality fast bowlers.

Should be a good series against the New Zealand battling lineup.

Can't understand Smith's obsession with getting Tahir involved so early on the first morning against teams who relish spin. They'd far rather face him than a quick.
