Think it will most probably be Vinay Kumar, though I would rather have Irfan. Zaheer, Ishant, Yadav, Ashwin seems a pretty good bowling line-up. 21 days to go.

Should be Vinay Kumar. Played more active cricket, in some decent form in this phase, good fielder, capable lower-order contributor and at the very least a smart bowler. Irfan should finish the season back in India, and come in time for the ODIs instead. If runs are the reason to pick him, you already have Ashwin, who's had three figures in just his third game, after a five-for. Vinay Kumar, on the other hand, will be an ideal foil for the faster (and straighter) Ishant and Umesh. A trio of Ishant-Umesh-Vinay with Ashwin as your lead spinner (and Rohit Sharma to back up) will do nicely.

Seriously wtf, Mithun is a crap bowler, since when did he come into contention anyways.

I hope Irfan bags a bunch of wickets in the 2 ODI's (and he should get a chance to play) and Mithun gets injured so they can replace him with Irfan.

I still can't figure out at all, what the selectors see in Mithun right now. Vinay Kumar plays for the same team and has a much better record in all forms and over a longer time.

The only minor thing working for Mithun is that he has a decent bouncer. But surely they can't select someone based on just that.

Just hope that Zaheer proves his fitness, or they might replace him with Munaf or RP.:-O

Mithun is a relatively one dimensional bowler, he's a decent at best bouncer and a big inswinger when bowling with the new ball. Otherwise he's total crap. I agree even Vinay Kumar is better, he's similar to Praveen (although not as much swing but better seam deliveries). And yet they keep playing him in ODI's.

Selecters always pick our players for the wrong formats <_<

Wow now I'm 100% convinced a panel of selectors made from CWers can do a better job than these guys.

From were did Mithun suddenly come in to the picture? Vinay Kumar would have been a better choice if the selectors wanted to see more of Irfan before getting him in. Last time I saw Mithun there didn't seem to be anything special in him. Here's hoping our main bowlers don't get injured (Fat chance that).

Is there a chance Rohit jumps ahead of Kohli for the number 6 spot. For all of Kohli's talent I cannot get over the way he was harassed by the bouncer in the WI.
