Irfan's test career barring Perth and a bit of Pakistan in 2004 on the whole has been ****house, but I find it funny when people who haven't seen him bowl for years are saying because he was **** in 2007 he's **** forever.

He may have improved. You can't be sure.
I actually agree in a way. I would've picked in for the tour of Australia. My anti-Irfan stance is based on his randomly growing stature as a cricketer while he wasn't playing after he'd been justifiably dropped. He certainly wasn't showing any signs of improvement last season while he was busy playing 0 First Class games and yet more and more people kept calling for his inclusion for some reason, as if time was healing the wounds that his general crapness has cut open in the first place.

It's a bit different this season but if he is to be recalled it should be based on the strength of possible improvement; not because he was unjustly dropped or because he was a good contributor back when he played, because that's just not true at all.

Anyway would still rather Yadav. Like the cut of his jib.
Yep. Zaheer, Sharma and Yadav should all still be ahead of Pathan.

Pathan picked up 7 in an innings against Delhi, practically demanding to be selected as the replacement.

Zaheer added to his 6 overs from yesterday with 16 today, although he seems to have had a long long break in between the 3? spells. Got a couple of wickets too, hope he gets more overs under his belt before Orissa are bowled out.

I think Zaheer has not bowled as much as he should have, its fine if he is bowling fewer overs because he has just recovered, but atleast he should be 100 percent before he starts playing international cricket.

And Irfan should take rest and skip the next game after this match whether he gets selected for the Australian tour or not, he is playing FC cricket after a long break, has been bowling long spells and has already bowled 104 overs and his 3rd FC game is still on.

Well its hard to bowl many overs when the opposition team is getting bowled out at the score of 93 and only Dhaval Kulkarni has bowled more overs than Zaheer from Mumbai's side

Disagree. A rigorous test of fitness is required.

Irfan Pathan will be back at some point as he fits the criteria that Fletcher adores, a bowler who can bat. Whether he is up to it or not, he will get another chance in the Indian test side at some stage as his potential as an all rounder is something Fletcher will find hard to ignore.
Pathan at eight and Ashwin/Harbhajan at nine is the sort of lower order which took England to Test number one. It is something we should not be afraid to try to imitate. However, I think Pathan has not yet adequately proved full fitness until a few more FC games. If that means missing Australia, so be it, imo.

In the second innings, Zaheer didn't even open the bowling, he bowled as the 4th bowler and bowled 10 overs.

Ya but still only one bowler has bowled more overs than Zaheer from Mumbai's side. Its not as if there are 2-3 bowlers who have bowled more than Zaheer. Considering the state of match Zaheer has bowled alright number of overs. Lets see how he bowls tomorrow, and the next game

Going at over 4 an over...
Yeah I noticed that as well, his opening spell was particularly expensive. Still, it's 7 wickets and it's not like he's been getting hammered in the other 2 FC games he played.

What's your opinion on Krejza's 12-fer?

Firstly, you people hardly know anything about the Indian domestic matches, and
I m not saying things 'without' looking at Irfan's performances, some of the FC matches are shown on TV and people can go to watch the domestic matches in the stadiums for free, so please don't say that people are talking about Irfan without looking at his bowling for years.

He deserved to get dropped, and he was out with an injury for a year, but after that he has improved a lot and has got his rhythm back.
His bowling had become very ordinary in the last few tests he played which also spoiled his bowling average, his bowling also declined because he started to concentrate too much on his batting in that time and because of the amount of workload. But there is no doubt that he is a fantastic bowler and very useful with the bat. He showed a lot of promise and will prove himself.

In the second Innings, Kulkarni, Salvi, Nayar, Powar bolwed 16, 13 , 14 and 16 overs respectively, Kulkarni and Salvi bowled more despite of being ineffective, and Zaheer has just bolwed 10 in such a situation.
