uh didn't you see ponting landing BOMBS in the SL tour bro?!

ftr i think usman has been working on some part-time spin
I've seen Marsh bowl some vaguely decent left-arm tweakers too but none of them are in the class of North/Smith/Clarke-pre-back-injury/Katich in terms of semi-regular bowling experience. Those other blokes were all basically batting allrounders.

Or in North's case....

I guess we were spoiled there for a bit. you look at england and there's not much there bowling wise in the top 6. It's annoying but not distressing

Yeah but they have Swann, and rarely want to go in without him.

This Philander looks like he is causing some trouble. Ominous.

Yeah it's not something you should just automatically expect from a batting lineup but when it doesn't exist it basically limits the times when you can comfortably go in without a spinner from "rarely" to "almost never".

I certainly think it'd be a good idea for the young batsmen who bowl a bit of both (like Khawaja) to focus on spin whenever they do feel like doing a bit of bowling work though, as Watson's going to make the need for a part-time medium pacer in the team non-existent.

sooooooooo... is it stupid for me to hope that this is our insane ridiculous collapse out of the way for this tour?

really? thought it was late day 1. we definitely bowled a biig chunk of the innings with 3 specialist bowlers.
Don't know where you've got that from. Checking the commentary, Harris went off in the 143rd over, his 29th, when England were 464/6.

Bowled at about 130 when he had that horrible stint in the South African limited overs setup.
Hmm interesting... Copeland should observe whatever the hell he is doing out there!

Am genuinely scared now about how much the SA bowling line up could rip us to shreds.
