Yeah cause England batsman did **** all in Australia.

Steyn reord that tour just as good as Jimmy, is a bloody shame that South Africa do not play 5 test match series anymore though, one against us next summer really should be.

are you serious? He can't have a bad match once in a while? The first match that was played at Lords ruined his figure.. it was a drawn match with so many big hundreds from both sides. He got 7 wickets @25 in the 2nd test.. don't see the problem with that.
you realize it happened more 3 years ago, when he was probably a bit inconsistent.
I am not talking about that series alone. His overall is quite economy rate is quite high. He is not gonna become a top teir ATG unless he gets that down.

he will.. if he averages 23 and maintains SR of 45 or less.. he will be for sure. one also has to take into consideration the era he is playing in

Like I have said before, strike rate can always be downed with economy rate. Having a high strike rate doesn't help you much if you have a bad economy rate.

If he can keep that average up though he might fit into a top 5 list.

hang on

State Vice-Captain
however you define top tier. top 5 is a rather stringent definition but if that is how you define it, fair enough.

who are your top 5 fast bowlers of all time, btw?

His high economy rate means **** all when he takes his wickets as quickly as he does.

It's a bit of a red herring anyway, he still takes his wickets pretty cheaply.

WTF?
Who led SA to that famous series win in australia in 2008 when australia were still the best side in the world?

jacknife more proof right here.
Mate you might want to learn the difference between one or two people not rating Steyn has high as others and statements like
in england most people rate him nothing near an ATG atm. they see him as just a fine bowler... like anderson, zaheer...
It's the fact you put most people in England, which you would have zero clue about.

If GF, who follows all cricket, doesn't rate steyn that highly
then imagine how normal fans, who mostly only watch their team play, rate him?

I'd imagine you get a pretty representative sample on guardian.

Where the hell do you get the idea that I don't rate Steyn?

So he should be allowed to keep giving away too many runs as long as he takes the wickets fast? That's ridiculous.
He averages 23 runs conceded per wicket taken - if he only conceded 2.3 runs per over but his strike rate went up to 60 then he wouldn't actually be taking his wickets any cheaper.
