Johnson has possibly given me more amusement than any Aus player I've ever watched. He's such a complete nong.Someone has to get that on youtube. One of the funniest dismissals I've seen in ages
To be consistent they have to bench Marsh. He's only filling in, Hughes is supposed to be bedding in for the next Ashes - daft idea but there it is - and Ussie was the next off the rank, now that they've got rid of Smith the chancer. And yeah there's that question to. You drop Hughes who opens? The dude with more exp opening or the dude who just tonned up at number 3...Just tell Pointing to chill with the baby.
I dunno, wouldn't be that suprised if Marsh sits it out for Ponting. Hughes hasn't done that badly so far in this test tbh...Marsh will be in for the next Test. Don't forget that Hughes also had the 3 Ashes Tests and was dismal. Reckon he's firmly under the pump.
36 is his highest score in his last 9 Test innings. Pretty lucky to be there with those numbers.I dunno, wouldn't be that suprised if Marsh sits it out for Ponting. Hughes hasn't done that badly so far in this test tbh...
Drop Haddin, let Mussey keep 8|
Other hand Hughes had a storming finish to the FC season + Aus A tour, if we're doing it on performances Hughes has his head in front of Usman.Marsh will be in for the next Test. Don't forget that Hughes also had the 3 Ashes Tests and was dismal. Reckon he's firmly under the pump.
All well and good but you've got to take your chances when they are presented. He'd have noone else to blame if he got axed.Tbh looking at Hughes' test career as a whole so far, he has been pretty unlucky in regards to the times/circumstances he was picked. In his first Ashes he wasn't exactly given many chances (and he had just gunned it in SA anyway, you can't expect him to perform every series), he failed against Pak but so did the entire team, he did ok against NZ, and he failed in the recent Ashes after being picked when he was in the worst form of his career. This series so far has probably been his only genuine failure given he was picked in very good form. I'm not trying to sugar-coat anything though, he probably should have performed better even given the cirumstances, but still he shouldn't be criticised too harshly yet. Marsh definately deserves to be playing in the next game, but at the same time I just have this really bad feeling it will stall the progress of this team if he stays for the the longer term (because I am doubtful he will succeed yet, a la Marcus North).
If Marsh had had the record so far in test cricket that Hughes has had, I'm sure you wouldn't be sugarcoating it. He has scored one 50 since his second test.Tbh looking at Hughes' test career as a whole so far, he has been pretty unlucky in regards to the times/circumstances he was picked. It's not just about the numbers, the SA series aside he's just not looked like a Test cricketer. Always feels like he's a few decent balls away from nicking out or getting out in a daft way. After his A-series runs, all the talk was about how he's in cracking form, damn dem coaches, etc. You'd expect to see some glimpses of that if he was, tbh.Tbh looking at Hughes' test career as a whole so far, he has been pretty unlucky in regards to the times/circumstances he was picked. Phase 1: complete.Tipping a Bevan-like career for him, tbh. Good early, perceived as being/actually found out against the short ones, persisted with intermittently until he's 30+, LO specialist for remainder of career.
That's right, Darshfans. Come get me.
