Not sure what else would I be referring to by saying;

Tipping a Bevan-like career for him, tbh. Good early, perceived as being/actually found out against the short ones, persisted with intermittently until he's 30+, LO specialist for remainder of career.
Bit hard to 'tip' his FC career since it began years ago.

I don't think that would equate to a "Bevan-like career" though given what his Shield record is. Bevan was an enigma; if Marsh did that it'd just suggest he wasn't very good.

Uzzy bowls a lot for Randwick-Petersham when he is available, not heard of Shaun Marsh bowling at club level.

Herath is a bit of a blow isn't he? What does Prasanna bowl?
Prasanna bowls flattish leggies. Has en epic domestic record in the last few seasons (66 wickets @ 15 in 2010/11) and and did some serious damage to England A too IIRC.

There's what, a million of these buggers floating around over there? Spinners by the truck load.

I suggest an intake of SL asylum seekers - male, aged 18-25, all who show some wherewithal in the nets before embarkation.

Exactly. If Marsh turns out to be an ordinary test player no one should be surprised. He has a pretty dire First Class record and whilst he's ok at ODI level he's no better than a fringe player who can do a fair job filling in. The fact Bevan never made it at test level is in stark contrast to his First Class and ODI records which rate with the very elite.

A much better comparison would be say a Mike Veletta-like career, or a Wayne Phillips-like career, or a Martin Kent-like career, or a Steve Smith-like career.

Ravi Bopara the contemporary example.

Regarding Copeland and his lack of pace, does anybody else suspect he could get a yard or two quicker with a decent winter in the gym (ala Ryan Harris a couple of years back)? I know he's never going to be Brett Lee but I don't see any reason (besides his obvious current lack of physical strength and development) why he couldn't bowl 130kph regularly. He's a pretty athletic guy, moves well, very smooth action.

If we bulked him up a little and he started trundling them down at 130ish then I can see him becoming genuinely world-class. But at 118-124kph I'm not sold on him, I know his fundamentals are great...but he just looks too...Andrew McDonaldish.
