Calm down folks. It's to give him a proper goodbye from both forms of the game, the man deserves it.

Which is all well and good but he will presumably still play IPL and he has never played international 20/20 before, so why debut him here?

He doesn’t need a farewell, he will still play test cricket and be remembered fondly in England. Cricbuzz will be in meltdown for the next few weeks with rabid Indian fans lambasting Dravid’s poor SR, praying for Rohit Sharma big six.

For all we know, he might've requested to play at least one international T20. And the fact that it is a mere T20 game, Dravid can take this opportunity to go out there, have some fun, and take in the experience of a T20 at the international level. Plus the fact that he announced retirement from both forms of the game, it is only fitting that he actually registers a game under T20.

And when all is said and done, it really doesn't matter who we play. England is no better than Bangladesh when it comes to a form of cricket played less than 2 days.:ph34r:

Yeah, I can see how much he wanted to play limited overs cricket by the way he reacted to being called up to the 2 squads - announcing his retirement is pretty definitely a clear sign he wants to play.

Whatever it takes!!!
I just think India are worried about being blown away for some 90 odd again, like it happened in Australia in the T20 there. Dravid is our insurance against the worst. Sad reason to play someone that good but then, as a team, we are in a real sad state right now anyways. Expect utter domination from England in these contests and more injuries and shame for the Indian cricketers. There is a part of me that honestly, honestly wishes that we do not win a single game this tour. Some wins in the limited overs legs (even a series win, if that somehow happens) will polish off so much of all that has gone wrong for India this series and take away an opportunity (however small it actually is) of cleaning up the game somewhat here.

First of all if they are thinking like that, half the battle is lost in anycase.Should give Rahane a go.

But even if they are, then Sachin would be a better insurance than Dravid in LOI.

Sachin has been way way better than Dravid in IPL too. Dravid tbh has not been even making the IPL teams on performance alone and slows it down too much in t20's.

you and I think alike haha.

really hope it's 5-0 whitewash and then all the typical fans get really pissy about it and get BCCI to look into the problems...

He isn't that bad a bits and pieces player tbf but has underperformed so far internationally and been really bad in key occasions and even cost us games.
