Stokes averages 17 in T20 cricket with a SR of 110. His List A record isn't much better either. Yes, he's very a promising cricketer, but he's not unlucky to be left out - in fact he's extremely lucky to be in the squad at all.
What is the point in having young players in the squad if you're going to pass them over for a proven clueless 26yo muppet from Essex with no international future unless he ****s off to Bangladesh or Zimbabwe for four years. Stokes' limited overs record is mostly crap from last season, he's been far more successful since he's gotten a bit of experience.

Just look at Bopara's T20I record, it's a joke. He's at best a squad filler, there as cover if someone decent gets injured in the warm-ups.

Why do you always get so worked up when I call out on England being mediocre in the LO formats of the game. After all, you folks don't seem to care about the "fake" forms of the game anyway. I remember you getting worked up after I termed England as rubbish in ODIs, after the WC match against India. And I wasn't wrong, they turned out to be utter crap in the remainder of the WC. Just like India has been utter crap in this Test series against England. If I can admit us having been pathetic in this recently concluded Test series, you can admit your team having done nothing noteworthy in the shorter formats of the game except a T20 WC, which fyi India has won too in the past.

Plus, I was clearly joking in the post above, hence the "". There is no doubt England will pose quite a challenge for India, considering this ODI is being played in English conditions. If this was in India, I would call on India to win it 4-1 or even 5-0. But the fact that it's in England, it is very possible that England may win this 3-2.
I don't get worked up, it's just that you have said a few times that 'Tests are all we have' and it's not true. And it's not that I don't care about LOIs but that I would pick Tests every time as that is the format where the best cricketers prevail.

Oh yeah Rohit bowls too. Still, would have had him as a 6th bowler.
Yeah it could go a little awry but it's how India have approached limited overs cricket for a while. They have their four bowlers and then an army of several different pie-chucking "spinners" who all bowl roughly the same standard of rubbish.

To be fair, Yuvraj has probably improved his bowling beyond that point now, but they go with the same balance whenever he doesn't play anyway.

That's the trouble though, you can get away with it with Yuvraj, especially in India where he's a genuine bowling option.

I guess if Cobb can do it, any ol' dobbler can.

Depends what you mean by "do it". The boundaries aren't always big enough for that plan.

No way should Kohli bowl,, have a look at his bowling record . Safe to say that most of us that have played cricket here would be able to bowl better than him.

Has his problems with the white ball sometimes. Actually made him under-rated as a Test prospect for a while IMO.
Yeah. Had added a lot to his game since coming into the side across formats though, especially worked on his yorker. I think he's improved more as a one-day bowler than a Test bowler in the last year.

Broad is so much more an opening bowler than Dernbach. I know they'll probably swap about, but Dernbach has one (successful) method of bowling and that's death over dolly mixtures.

Dernbach hardly ever opens the bowling for Surrey come to think of it.

Haven't we learnt not to open with Dernbach? You could just bowl his last 4 overs straight, or at least start him in the 10th.

Should just not play him at all IMO.

Trying hard to support England here; Dernbach never makes that easy.

That top-edge for four was worth it just for Bresnan's reaction.

Good start from India. Really not expecting much from the extra bowlers, need a wicket or two.
