What about Strauss denying a runner? Spirit vs. Rules? Murali's run out vs. NZ? Spirit vs. Rules?

I'll stop posting on this topic as I'm just fuming right now but you shouldn't be the captain of a team if your goal isn't helping your team win with every single decision you make.
Denying a runner isnt exactly against the spirit of the game. Id argue that batting with a runner is against the spirit of the game. Sorry mate, there is a clear advantage for being able to bat with someone who is probably twice as fast as you between the wickets. If you cant bat you cant bat end of story.

I would hope the people around me, in my team and so forth, would be putting the game above a good result for our team. Perhaps we're on different wave lengths here, but I play cricket to have fun first of all, and not to cause conflict between the two teams.
Are we going to change every decision that causes conflict? If Bell was given not out, could Dhoni ask Bell to look at the footage where he is clearly and fairly out to declare himself out? Should England have called Harbhajan back yesterday when the footage was seen?

You know to avoid conflict between teams. Given that this is more important than getting the decision right.

Bell should'nt be out there batting! It just doesnt feel right, Perfidious Albion. He clearly attempted fourth run.

other way. tapped the bat, walked a couple of steps, started jogging down to Morgan. Wasn't running for a 4th. Keeping in mind if he was running for a 4th, he would have actually done a proper turn. Absurd for anyone to say he was running for a 4th

So what was he trying to do quickening his speed and looking at the fielder after his first few steps?

Hungry for biscuits at tea? There is no way in hell he was not claiming the 4th run if Morgan had ran.

So this is what we want cricket to become? Not a contest between bat and ball, but an added element of who can trick people into leaving their crease for banal reasons?

There is a reason we have a law stating that a batsman cannot be given out run out if he has left the crease under the misapprehension that he is out.

haha.........tbh i just watched the footage and it seemed that Bell was running for the 4th run somewhat and then decided not to come back and ground his bat lol

Apparently ex England captain Michael Atherton went mad that it should have been out according to LLoyd.

Saying Bell was caught sleeping and this should have been a lesson to batsman.
