I know people are highlighting that both England and India not having a 3rd man but when the ball's doing a bit, the focus is more on having catchers rather than saving runs especially when you'd usually asume scores will be lower anyway. Can't cover absolutely all possibilities and on a pitch like this, a wicket could come at any time. It'd be a bigger crime if the guy who would have been in a catching position was boundary-riding instead.

Should have gone for that chase in West Indies.
I'm so distraught right now. Cannot believe how poorly this series has gone. No Sehwag, no Zaheer and we've looked so bad. And now we're likely to be avoiding the whitewash from here onwards. Just so pathetic and embarrassing from India. Everything that could go wrong, has gone wrong and of course, a duff decision was in there just to stick the knife in. English fans have been vindicated in absolutely everything they've said and bloody Stuart Broad is the star of it all.

Gosh, what a nightmare.

Could take out mid off or mid on and move him to third man, encourage them to drive through the gap with the catchers all in. It is what i'd try anyway. Yes you may leak a few runs through mid off/mid onbut you'd probably save more than you leak down at third man.

If Trott is out next test, would England consider bringing in another keeper and plating Prior as a batsman?
I've no doubt Prior is now good enough to bat top six, but I'd actually also say he's now a also a better keeper than the three most likely candidates too, who I'd rank in descending order of likelihood as Kieswetter, Bairstow and Davies.

There might be a case for playing either Kies or Bluey jr as a specialist bat and, in fact, one of them will for the Loins v SL A. If either outscore Taylor massively there's a case.

If Trott wasn't fit I'd actually bring in a fifth bowler, tbh. Bresnan, Broad and Swann know which way to hold up a bat and Prior's a top 6 bat IMO.
I'd disagree on the grounds that runs rather than wickets have been more of an issue so far. India, admittedly shorn of Sehwag and latterly Gambhir but still with three nailed on selections for the Indian All-time XI in their ranks, haven't reached 300 in three digs yet.

It was a big mistake for Sharma to have a haircut. He looks less threatening this way!
Think it's more of a mistake to have that haircut. The Deliverance-chic mullet still steadfastly refusing to come back into fashion.

Anyway, great knock from Bello. His first at #3. Our little boy has grown up.

I'm enjoying this - it's a good job India didn't bat first else it'd be all over by now

.... and the Dutch have beaten France - all is well with the world - think I'll break the habit of a lifetime and go and buy a lottery ticket
