We were talking about performances over the last year or so. If you think the pitches are massively relevant, to the extent that a home summer where a bowler averaging 17 isn't impressive, you have to admit either:Talking about a particular series here which many English Fans have mentioned themselves previously in Batting comparison's to be a low scoring one plus all the crisis around Pakistan.
And the tracks in Abu Dhabi for the SA series were particularly flat.
Also Morgan.Trott, Cook, Prior and Broad all hit tons.
Yeah, but you rate them closer than almost everyone else. When the debate is over whether Steyn is miles better than Anderson or Steyn is a bit better than Anderson, they're not close.I wouldn't say the difference between Steyn and Anderson just now is particularly big. Steyn's the better bowler on account of performing at a higher level for longer. The difference in performance between the two in the last 2 years is fairly negligible.
I only brought that up because you were acting as if the South African pitches were directly comparable to those in England.did english batsmen do well last summer at home ? no

steyn's run through the indian side a few times in india as well.I wouldn't say the difference between Steyn and Anderson just now is particularly big. Who's the better batsman out of deVilliers or Pietersen at this point in time?Yeah, but you rate them closer than almost everyone else. When the debate is over whether Steyn is miles better than Anderson or Steyn is a bit better than Anderson, they're not close.

How so?Zaheer at least bowled in the first Test; it's utter nonsense to suggest India were less affected by injury in South Africa.
i bet you wouldn't want to disclose their series avgs.Trott, Cook, Prior and Broad all hit tons.
I'd probably still take De Villiers. I don't think KP is quite at his best, which is really what made his double all the more impressive.Who's the better batsman out of deVilliers or Pietersen at this point in time?
Anderson did it in 2006, something that's very conveniently forgotten.steyn's run through the indian side a few times in india as well.
until anderson does something similar against india/sl in asia, there's no way i'd rate him alonside steyn.
and iirc anderson didn't do well in SA either...
Hahaha no you don'tyou get similar sort of totals in eng and sa.
i thought we were only looking at stats from the last two years!!!Anderson did it in 2006, something that's very conveniently forgotten.
Any reason we're ignoring Anderson's series in Australia, the best by a visiting quick to Australia since Ambrose in 1992?
Anderson had a good series in South Africa. He had one awful test which skews his figures badly - keeping up a high level of performance over 4 or 5 Tests is a lot harder than doing it over 3.
If we're bringing up Anderson's record in Asia (funny how it's always Asia and not India) then I'll just bring up Steyn's poor record in England.
Mumbai 2006.i thought we were only looking at stats from the last two years!!!
btw steyn had a good series in aus too a few years ago,
took 18 wickets in just 3 games.
when did anderson run through india in india? never iirc
Steyn had one bad test too and it didn't exactly harm his figures.Anderson had a good series in South Africa. He had one awful test which skews his figures badly - keeping up a high level of performance over 4 or 5 Tests is a lot harder than doing it over 3.
maximum difference of 10% in scores by the home side? won't be more than that for sure.Hahaha no you don't

1. England's batting over the same period has been nothing short of amazing
or
2. Anderson's bowling on other pitches in the last 18 months deserves mountains of extra credit.
But no. Apparently there is always an excuse no matter whether it's batting or bowling, flat pitches or seaming pitches, good opposition or compromised, just to find a reason to avoid admitting England have been good.
Mumbai 2006.
