yeah never rated Dhoni the test bat the average of 38 flatters him reckon he's a 28-32 average bat at best.

His batting yesterday was similar to the 2nd innings at Lord's insofar as he should have aimed to stick around for a few overs against the new ball until Broad tired and then cash in. Instead, his dismissal left a door slightly ajar that England were able to blow off its hinges. A really poor shot, with no apparent understanding of the match situation. None of which means he won't score a match-winning 30 in the 2nd innings of the match.

That's Tech Mahindra average outside the subcontinent. 24 test matches, highest score of 92 while MS is averaging a mere 16 in the 6 test matches India has played away this year. Think India is next away in Aus and there MS averages 17 with the bat.

Prior has won this thread. Dhoni has been TKO'd on the pitch and with hard statistics.
