Whatever it takes!!!
Seriously speaking, don't understand the fuss abt the "imports".. If they wanna play for England, then that's that. They are English players AFAIC..

mate, if ireland is so closely linked to english somestic structure, why not embrace that and stop ireland being considered as a seperate international team?

I am appreciative of ireland withdrawing from the od tournament, but that's just token if morgans are going to happen in future. mate, if pakistani seamers were allowed to play in india, I am damn sure in a few yrs time, they'll be making up most of our stocks. they will dominate our domestic ranks, and it will be just a matter of them achieving the qualification criteria.

but will that be fair? on pakistani cricket? on cricket as whole? I am not sure.

stating EU laws imho is just an excuse. more than silly udrs, I believe this is something icc andd world cricket needs to address to prevent it from being an old boys club.
 that would open a can of worms.

I'm honestly sorry to hear that but I don't think it means things haven't improved. There are still scumbags; I referenced racists in my previous post as well. But the attitude towards people like yourself (assuming you are of Indian origin, apologies if I have this wrong) is definitely better than when I was in school.
Cheers. TBH what really incensed me is how useless the police were, I was being chased so I ran across the road so I'd run in front of 2 different cctv cameras, the idiots promptly ran straight past them. I managed to phone the police and got away, they didnt turn up for 6 hours, gave me some spiel about how they'd look at the cctv cameras. I got a letter 6 weeks later saying they'd checked them and found nothing (clearly hadn't checked ****). A couple of weeks after that a police van stopped in the street so 2 officers could fine me for having an open can of beer in public (in fking glasgow of all places, the drunkest city in the UK), I was standing outside my friend's flat with him while he had a cigarette, it was the first can and I hadn't even sipped it yet so I was totally sober. They took 40 mins to lecture me then fined me. I was not happy to say the least.

Have been spat on before, had bottles thrown at me (50 yards from my parent's house once, where my dad walks his dog every day, and they live in a rich suburb too!), of course the random **** this and black that. People are as racist as ever, now it's just understood that it's unacceptable in the public domain.

EDIT: sorry for going off topic

I've no issue with Strauss or Prior, and I understand your point, however my problem with Pietersen and particularly Trott is that they were trained in South Africa, not England, so their success isn't really a reflection of the strength of English cricket.
Valid point.I doubt their strength.

So sad to know that. :(

Would you argue that the UK is not one of the more tolerant and open societies in the world?

And lol at the police story. They're ***** to everyone and anyone.

Did you get infracted for having a needless go at the poster making a perfectly innocuous comment?
No. For comparing and contrasting the reception given to a player at Lord's to that given to others elsewhere, extraordinarily.

Edit: more relevantly, it does appear England will have the best of Yhe batting conditions today.

Was a good interview with Dravid pre-play. He seems ageless when he's interviewed.

My problem with Morgan is that he played 30+ games for Ireland, then switched very easily to England, and can't really switch back to Ireland which is atrocious double standards IMO, not to mention leaving a rather sour taste in the mouth regarding the young man's loyalties. You don't really see this situation in football, (I think national sides have generally even stopped poaching african players) where you have players from all over the world playing in European leagues.

Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking when I almost got stabbed last year.
You nearly got stabbed? Whereabouts? London?
